Chapter 249
Charles smiled and said, "Okay."
He looked at the menu and ordered the jalapeno chicken.
Naomi was a little surprised. She said, "That's quite spicy, right?" She recalled that Charles could not take spicy foods. In that regard, he was similar to Scott. It was only natural, given that they were both from Willowstown.
"It's fine. I've been eating too much bland food recently. I want something spicy to shake things up." Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Then, Charles handed the menu to the waiter. "That's all for now."
"Alright." The waiter was about to leave when Naomi said, "Go light on the jalapeno."
The waiter nodded and took note of it. "I've taken note of it." Then, the waiter left.
Charles poured tea for Naomi. The tea was also a local specialty. Naomi thanked him before taking a sip. She had tasted the same tea before—it was not bad.
Charles said, "The jalapeno chicken is one of this restaurant's classic dishes. People who enjoy spicy food would come here to try it."
Naomi blinked. "You've been here before?"
Charles chuckled. He set the teapot down and picked up his teacup to take a sip before saying, "I came here with my uncle when I was in middle school. My uncle enjoyed spicy food and brought me here. He ordered the jalapeno chicken. It tasted fantastic. This restaurant has been around for a long time. I was not sure if they would still have this dish. I am surprised to learn that they still do."
Naomi understood. "Then, I would have to give it a try." Naomi could tolerate spicy foods. Unlike Amelia, she would not have a skin breakout even if she had too much spicy food. Amelia often complained about it to Naomi.
"Yes."
The dishes were quickly served. Charles placed some food on Naomi's plate while telling her about his last trip to Herland.
Naomi ate while listening intently to him. She occasionally responded.
Time flew by, and they were soon done with their meal. Naomi checked her phone before saying, "Charles, I am sorry. I have work in the afternoon. I should finish around five. Will you be alright to walk around Herland by yourself? I'll come to you once I'm finished with my work. Is that okay?"
Charles nodded. "Sure, no problem. Go. I'll be fine." He looked out the window at the never-ending traffic. He asked, "Are you going straight to work or heading to the hotel first?"
Naomi said, "I'll head straight there. It's on the riverbank of Le Soleil. We're organizing an event there soon. We have to go there to see if we need to make any changes today."
"Le Soleil..." Charles paused for a while. Then, his eyes sparkled. At that moment, he looked at her even more tenderly.
He had looked up that place before he arrived at Herland. It was a place he was sure he wanted to take her to.
Naomi could hear him thinking. She also noticed the apparent change in his gaze. She asked, "What is it?"
Charles smiled. "Nothing. I heard that the scenery there is beautiful. Apparently, it's a place one should visit when in Herland. I thought of going there to have a look."
Naomi smiled. "I see. I'll take you there when you're free. I went there a few days ago. It is not bad."
Charles looked at Naomi's sincere and pure gaze. His heart fluttered. "Why don't we go tonight?"
