Chapter 402
Hearing that the visitor was none other than Tristan, the entire Gallagher clan was on edge!
Millie's mother was so anxious she nearly shredded her handkerchief!
"What's gotten into Millie? I've got a spa day planned tomorrow with Mrs. Schnabel!"This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
How was she supposed to face Sienna now?!
Randy, sitting in his wheelchair, forced himself to calm down.
"Tristan's a bit on the older side, sure, but if Millie can snag him, he's certainly a catch compared to those Schnabel boys who still have some growing up to do."
The butler chimed in: "That's not all, Mr. Schnabel and his wife, along with Miss Schnabel and young Jasper, are all here too!"
It wasn't just Millie bringing Tristan; the entire Schnabel family had come along!
Randy was surprised: "This isn't any special occasion. They're here for dinner?"
Millie's mother quickly patted her chest, sighing with relief.
"I was worried sick Millie was getting into trouble..."
Christina Gallagher, the younger sister from the second branch of the family, couldn't hide her jealousy. "As if Millie could even dream of straying off the path with Mr. Schnabel and his wife showing up. Who knows what kind of skeletons Millie's got in her closet with the Schnabels."
Patrick Gallagher shot her a look.
"That's not for you to judge! If you're so capable, why don't you go and stay with the Schnabels?"
Just jealous because she's not capable herself!
Randy glanced at Millie's parents. "We should go greet them together. Mr. Schnabel and his wife have taken the trouble to visit us personally; we must show them proper hospitality."
"Of course."
Christina felt even more bitter. Randy personally welcoming them was like adding glory to Millie's reputation!
"Grandpa, you don't need to go personally by our family's standards..."
"You know nothing. Do we even stand on the same ground as the Schnabel family? Not just Tristan, if the Schnabel family patriarch were to visit, our whole family should be waiting to welcome them miles away!"
The Gallagher family couldn't compare to the Schnabels on any level!
Christina was sour to the core!
How did Millie get so lucky as to be involved with the Schnabels?!
Carolyn was unconvinced.
"Bringing someone home for dinner is no big feat. The real skill is in winning their hearts for good. Let's see if Millie can actually marry into the family. Just focus on yourself; we'll see who gets the last laugh."
She glanced at the second family's son standing next to Christina and advised, "And you, try to get noticed by Miss Schnabel. It won't hurt."
"Mom, isn't Miss Schnabel almost engaged?"
"That hasn't happened yet. And even if it does, marriages can end. Why worry? Miss Schnabel is both intelligent and beautiful; are you saying you're not good enough for her?"
The second family's son stayed silent for a moment.
"Honestly, I'm more afraid of Mr. Pollack killing me."
Chasing after someone engaged to another, especially someone like Palmer, was a risk he wasn't willing to take.
Carolyn sighed, "...Then forget it. But I've heard the Schnabels have another daughter. Try to mingle more when you can."
"Mom," Morgan Gallagher asked earnestly, "do you really think I stand a chance with Miss Schnabel? She's already a fellow at the Harmonia Country Science Research Institute. I can't even understand her papers!"
Morgan had tried, but to no avail.
The Schnabel family had only two daughters.
Miss Noella Schnabel was one thing, but Elara Schnabel was protected by a squad of special forces whenever she stepped outside!
Morgan had no chance to get close, let alone impress her with papers he couldn't even stay awake reading...
Carolyn turned away, pretending not to hear.
She knew her son's capabilities all too well...
Randy, beaming, ushered Tristan and his family inside, his face alight with joy.
"Mr. Schnabel, you're too kind. I hope Millie hasn't caused any trouble at your home?"
"Not at all! Sienna and I are very fond of Millie. We apologize for intruding like this!"
Tristan clapped his hands, and Wren opened the trunk of their car, bringing out several gift boxes.
"Just a little something as a token of
our visit. The old man hasn't been well; these are some of the same supplements my father uses. Thope you won't find them too modest!"
Randy's face lit up with a smile.
"How could we possibly find fault with anything from the esteemed patriarch? Millie, be sure to thank your Grandpa Marcel for me, will you?" Millie nodded respectfully, "Yes, I will."
Tristan and Sienna were buzzing
with excitement early in the morning upon hearing that Millie was inviting. Jasper t have dinner at the Gallagher residence. They were adamant about tagging along even roused Noella from her sleep to join them.
According to Tristan, it was Jasper's first time dining with a girl's family, and it was only proper to bring a hostess gift.
No matter what Jasper said, it was to no avail; Tristan, Sienna, and Noella were coming along!
Randy quickly ushered them to their seats.
Millie pulled Noella to a chair, "Take a seat here, mentor. Ron, could you prepare two servings of that bird's nest soup I brought back last time? My mentor loves it!"
Noella raised an eyebrow, "Since when did I start liking bird's nest soup?"
"You only ate that the last time we dined together. You didn't touch any other dish!"
Millie chuckled, knowing Noella was particular but wouldn't say it outright. If she didn't like something, she wouldn't touch it at all.
But Millie had noticed these little habits!
Noella calmly replied, "...It was just that the meal last time was terrible. Only the bird's nest soup was edible."
"There are few things that please you, mentor. That's why I bought a lot! I even planned to bring some to you after sorting out some family matters!" "Aren't you always saying how expensive that bird's nest soup is?"
Just a small bowl could cost a fortune, making even the generous Millie wince at the expense!
"What does it matter if it's expensive? Being able to buy something my mentor likes is a small issue. The real fear is not being able to buy it at all!"
"Besides, I'm quite flush right now!"
Watching Millie puffing up with pride, Noella couldn't help but smile softly, feeling a warmth in her heart.
The people around her always had their unique ways of showing their affection.
Christina, seeing how close Millie was to Noella, felt a sour taste in her mouth.
Both daughters of the Gallagher family, yet how was it that Millie always managed to charm members of the Schnabel family?
With a hint of jealousy, Christina
said, "Millie, the gift you're offering might not even be to Ms. Schnabel's taste. The Schnabel family lacks for nothing. You should consider giving something of higher value, not to disgrace the Gallagher family."
Noella glanced at Christina briefly before setting her eyes on Tristan.
Tristan caught his precious daughter's cue, his spirits lifting.
"Sir, we've come here today with a proposal," he started, his voice full of excitement.
"We've taken a great liking to Millie, and we'd like to formally ask if she could be our goddaughter!"
