Chapter 28: Why Did You Call Me Here?
Dong Ci wrapped her arms around Nima and asked, “Why did you call me here?”
“You’re very special. Your remarks, your voice and your body… Maybe I have fallen in love with the pleasant smell of your body.” Nima undressed himself and pressed Dong Ci down beneath him. He held her close and covered her thin naked legs with his legs to keep them warm. They both felt comfortable.
Then he pressed his lips to hers and kissed her passionately. After the long kiss, Dong Ci said, “Master, I don’t want to be a maid. I want to be your wife.”
“I will give you everything as long as you make me happy.” Nima was riding her and repeatedly thrusting like an animal mating.
Dong Ci shouted, “Oh! Come on! Quick!”
She wasn’t asking for an orgasm. In truth, she was reminding herself that she had to make the best use of her time to change her fate in the previous life before the red rope turned black. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
The next day Nima took Dong Ci as his fourth wife. The whole Nima Mansion was decorated with lanterns and festoons. Ju Juxian, Ji Jing and Yang Zhen were jealous. Nima also held a wedding feast. The dinner was served separately as the guests arrive in succession. Every townsfolk could come to the feast at any time and enjoyed delicious food.
Dong Ci glanced at the red rope around her wrist. It showed no sign of turning black. She laughed delightfully with pure satisfaction, shaking in her chair.
Nima looked at Dong Ci and asked, “What else do you want?”
Dong Ci, with a rosy, cheerful face, pointed at Yang Zhen’s head and replied, “I want her hairpin. It’s beautiful.”
Nima turned to Yang Zhen and said, “Give it to her.”
Yang Zhen was reluctant, but she forced a smile and pretended to be generous. “You like jewelry? Okay, take it. I have a lot of jewelry in my bedroom. You can take them all.”
Dong Ci took the hairpin from Yang Zhen and looked carefully at it. ‘In the previous life, Yang Zhen destroyed my face with this sharp hairpin. But now things change. She will never get a chance to do that again,’ she thought to herself.
Ji Jing was burnt up with jealousy. Suddenly, she felt the movement of the fetus and the expression on her face changed from anger to delight. She was going to be a mother.
Ju Juxian was accustomed to being given the cold shoulder by Nima. She was old, experienced and good at hiding her emotions. ‘She is really a boring stodgy old woman. When a woman doesn’t show any emotion in the face of her husband’s love affair, it means that she’s old, both physically and mentally,’ Dong Ci thought.
Nima was getting thinner for lack of sleep. Every night after having sex with Dong Ci, he had to chat with her. Sometimes he told her about his childhood experiences; sometimes he had to listen to her talking about something that he couldn’t understand at all, for example, something about the future. Her soft, dulcet voice sent him to sleep and his snores echoed in the room. Dong Ci asked, “Master, what was I saying?” Nima answered, still half asleep, “You were saying that you were a guide.” Dong Ci snuggled deeper into his embrace and said, “Master, it’s time for having a rest. Let’s make love one more time.”
Dong Ci was in Nima’s good graces and his other three wives felt completely left out in cold. They were jealous and resentful of Dong Ci, who perceived that soon. She lay next to Nima and asked, “Master, what if they are jealous of me?”
“Whatever you do, I will support you.” Nima just wanted a good sleep as he was sleepy and tired.
Ji Jing was a threat to Dong Ci.
When Dong Ci walked out of the gate of Nima Mansion, the pear vendor was shocked and unconsciously loosened his grip on the basket. His pears were scattered over the ground. She was beautifully groomed with splendid jewels, like a Hollywood’s glamour goddess.
“Take them and buy all the things on this shopping list for me.” Dong Ci gave him a bank note and a paper. “As for the rest of the money, you can use it to buy some new clothes for your mother.”
The pear vendor was struck dumb, but soon he came to himself and said, “Okay, I will do as you have said.”
Dong Ci liked durian. In Chinese, “durian” sounded the same to the word “linger”, which meant that a person was reluctant to part from his or her beloved.
All the things on the shopping list were prepared for Ji Jing. At noon, Dong Ci walked out of the kitchen with a bowl of the decocted herbal potion in her hands and said to Ji Jing, “Second Madam, drink it. I decocted it for you in person.”
Ji Jing looked at Nima.
“Don’t be afraid. It’s nontoxic.” Dong Ci turned her head to Nima and took a mouthful of the decocted herbal potion.
Ji Jing trembled and drank the potion. Fortunately, it was not a poison and she did not die.
A day later, the fetus in Ji Jing’s womb died. It had arms and legs. But gradually, it turned into a pool of blood and flowed along her vagina out of her body. She felt a sharp pain in the lower abdomen. The flow of blood could not be staunched, and metallic smell of blood lingered in the air. The moon hung high in the sky, casting its velvety light on everything. A distant song started soft and melancholy, and was wafted to her ears.
Dong Ci kept Nima by her side every minute of the day. “You are mine. I won’t allow you to be with other women. You said that you would support me whatever I did. Don’t break your word.”
Nima sighed, “The baby…”
“I will bear you a child.”
‘All right. It sounds good.’ Nima thought.
“Okay. Let’s work hard to make a baby.”
“You are so eager…” Dong Ci’s lips were occupied by Nima and all the words she was about to say were being sucked into his void. After a while, she said in a vague voice, “You are not in the right place… A baby can be only created in my womb…”
