EPISODE 52 The good doctor
IN CONNECTICUT
Three days has passed since Meagan left moon stone pack in an hurry to make it down to Connecticut. Her two weeks leave would soon be over which means she has to resume back to her life of being a medical doctor.
Mr Swift’s surgery was a success and they all prayed for him to regain consciousness. Meagan hoped that she would get to hear her father talk again before she return back to her home. And as usual Mrs Swift scolded Meagan for choosing medicine over law. She complained about Meagan not having time to visit the family often and making it to family gathering. She stated that things would have been more easier for them all and Meagan couldn’t comprehend her words. But Meagan just concluded that probably her mom was frustrated and stressed due to the fact that her husband wasn’t in a good condition.
Meagan didn’t stay at her parents home just to avoid her mother venting out anger on her again. So instead she stayed at her sister’s home. Although Meagan wanted to book a room at the hotel closest to the hospital but Penelope had insisted that she stays at her home.
Meagan’s phone beeped and she stirred in her sleep but didn’t make an attempt to answer it. The phone kept on ringing until Penelope walked into the living room. She was surprised Meagan didn’t pick up the phone knowing that her sister wasn’t a deep sleeper.
“Meagan, your cellphone is ringing.” Penelope tapped her sister gently.
“It must be either Jones or Ethan. Leave it.” Meagan grumbled and placed a soft pillow on her ear to block the sound.
“It’s Jones. If you don’t want to answer any calls then switch it off. The sound is so annoying!” Penelope complained.
The phone stopped ringing for about a minute but soon pinged again. Penelope rolled her eyes. “Now.. Ethan is calling.” She walked closer to Meagan and removed the pillow.
“Get up… Ethan might have something important to say. Who knows? It might be work related.” Penelope dragged her sister to sit up.
Meagan grumbled as she took the phone from her sister to answer the call. “Hello Ethan,” she said.
“Good evening, Meagan. How are you doing today?” Ethan asked.
“I am fine. Thanks. What about you?” Meagan rolled her eyes.
“I am doing okay aside the fact that I miss your presence here at the hospital. No.. I mean everyone misses you and that’s why I am calling. I hope your dad is getting better?” Ethan cleared his throat. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yes, he is fine. But yet to regain consciousness.” Meagan answered.
“I am sure he’ll be fine.” Ethan said and she hummed a response.
Ethan sighed. “Meagan, I know you are going through a lot at the moment and your leave has not ended-” he stopped talking.
Meagan waited for him to continue his intended sentence.
“Meagan, can you be at the hospital tomorrow?” Ethan requested.
Meagan looked at her sister who was staring at her. “Why? Is there any problem?” She asked.
“Not really. It’s just that one of your patients has been refusing treatment because you aren’t here.” Ethan informed her.
Meagan knew who Ethan was talking about immediately. “Mr James.” She smiled.
“Yes. He stopped coming for his check up the day he found out you are on leave. He requested for your private number but I told him that we don’t give out personal details of our doctors without their consent. I even offered to run his check ups but he refused and his family are worried about him breaking down again. Please Meagan, can you do this for me?” Ethan’s voice pleaded with her.
Well almost all her patients loves her. And Mr James, the sixty eight years old man isn’t the first patient to refuse treatment on her absence. Some little children preferred her to inject them because she would play and crack jokes until the needle is in and out of their bodies. Sometimes, she sings to help them feel relaxed because some of them don’t like the hospital. The tiny needle is almost everyone’s fear.
Meagan heaved a sigh before speaking up. “I am sorry, Ethan. I’ll stay around till tomorrow to check on my dad’s progress. I need to be here when he regains consciousness. But anytime Mr James or any other patients refuses treatment because of me just put anyone of them on the line so I can have a word with them.” She loves her job and it is her top priority but she also has to fulfill her responsibility as a daughter.
She can’t leave Connecticut yet because her father was yet to regain consciousness. Meagan was patiently waiting so she could talk to him again.
These passed three days was filled with sleepless nights, watching over her father and fighting off the fear of loosing him.
Hazel had called and she had spoke to Julius too. The newly wedded already left for their honeymoon the next day after the full wolf moon celebration. Meagan had been tempted to ask of the alpha but she chose to keep her words at bay. Nobody should ever find out about her passionate connection with the alpha. Meagan already concluded that as time goes on she would end up forgetting about the alpha even though their moments kept popping up in her mind’s eye.
Jones kept in touch with Meagan. Since she got on the plane coming to Connecticut, Hones has made it his duty to always check up on Meagan. He would call at least five times in a day to ask about her father’s health progress. He had even suggested coming to Connecticut to be with her but Meagan declined immediately. She told him that it wasn’t necessary, she reassured him that she was holding up very fine and informed him that they would have dinner on a weekend when she gets back to New York.
