Alpha's Second Chance

It has been a week since the rouge king was here, and it has been very quiet. Our trackers lost the track about 70 miles from the pack, which we know can only be because of a witch.

I'm sitting in my office looking through some papers when Mom pushes my mindlink.

'Mom?" I say.

'Carter is here with the orphan girl."

'I am on my way.' I say as I stand up.

The girl Alina was supposed to be here weeks ago, but with everything that had happened, it was delayed. But Carter called two days ago and told us that Alina had been attacked by an angry kid from her family. The family that didn't want anything to do with the poor girl.

As I am about to leave, Madeleine comes in, and I tell her what is happening. She wants to come to meet her. On our way there, Madeleine mindlink Juliette and told me she would meet us there.

When we are almost there, I can see Dad and Mom standing outside with Carter who has Alina hugging his leg. This is why I like Carter. Like most Alphas, he doesn't look so hard on what looks right or not. He doesn't care about ranks and titles.

Alina is looking around from her safety spot next to Carter when she sees us come.

"It's the king." I can hear her say, and she lets go of Carter and runs towards us.

"Alina!” Carter says, trying to stop her, but she keeps running.

"Hello..." She squeals happily as she reaches us and hugs my leg.

I hear Madeleine giggle and can't help but chuckle, and decide to lift her up.

"Hello, Alina. How are you." I ask, smiling, but her smile falls a little. And that is where I see the bruises.

"Alpha, say it is not safe at home for me. So he said we were going here." She says quietly. But before I can answer Madeleine, do.

"Alina, I am Madeleine. And we are so happy that you are here, and I promise you that no one here will hurt you." She says softly to the girl as she softly caresses her little face over the big bruise on her cheek.

I see a very soft, almost unnoticeable green glow from her hand, and Alina looks

at her in surprise. Madeleine removed her hand, and the bruise was gone, and she smiled at us.

"It doesn't hurt anymore," Alina whispers.noveldrama

"Because I removed the pain and that ugly bruise," Madeleine says.

"Thank you." She whispers and hugs Madeleine before I put her back on the ground.

We walk over to the others together, and I see Carter look relieved when he see the bruise is gone. He does not say anything, though, but bows his head lightly to say thank you.

"Let us go inside. Mom says just as Juliette comes rushing here.

We all go inside the house and into the living room, where we all sit down and talk. Carter seemed unsure how to go from here, but again, Madeleine surprised me. She went to sit next to Alina and caressed her hair softly.

"Alina, as you know, sometimes bad things happen, and sometimes that makes others sad and angry. And then they do things like hitting you even when they should not." Madeleine says softly, and Alina nods her head, tears showing in her eyes.

"Alina, Alpha Carter wants to make sure that you do not get hurt again. He asked if we could help, and we told him we could. Alina, please stay at the Royal Blood Moon Pack and live here. We have a house where there are other kids like you, but we do not have any parents or family. My sister Juliette and I will be there and help look after you almost every day." Madeline tells her softly and points at Juliette.

"Hello Alina, I am Juliette." Juliette introduced herself. And Alina smiles and says hello.

Alina looks at Madeleine, then at me, and last, she looks at Carter, who softly nods. Alina closes her eyes, and we see tears again when she opens them.

She walks over to Carter and hugs him, and Carter hugs her back.

"I am sorry, Alina. I am sorry for what happened, and I want you to know that I do not leave you here because of what happened. I only do it to protect you. I want you to be the good girl I know that you are. And I

want you to have a happy life."

Carter tells her, and she nods her

head.

“I will be a good girl." She promises, and Carter smiles before looking at the rest

of us.

"I thank you for this. No child should be punished for their parent's mistakes." He says.

"She will be taken good care of." Mom promises.

"I know. I don't want to be rude, but I need to get back. But I hope to see you again at the coronation of the queen." Carter says and smiles.

"It has been postponed with everything happening," I say, and he bows before saying goodbye and leaving.

After Carter left, Madeleine and Juliette took Alina to the orphanage to get her settled. And to make sure she would be taken care of until they would be back the next day to take her shopping for clothes.

I still feel that she will someday be important to our family. For that reason, I'll work harder to make sure she is safe.
