Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 279

Chapter 279

Mikayla searched for Jerome high and low downstairs, but there was no sign of him. She thought he had gone to work, so she called him. Yet, his phone was switched off.

She dialed Mike’s number, and his phone was off as well. In the end, she resorted to calling the secretary. department at Miller Group. She learned that something urgent had come up overseas, so Jerome and

Mike had to leave.

Their return date wasn’t scheduled yet.

Mikayla figured this was too much to be a coincidence. How could he go on a business trip on the day they had agreed to proceed with their divorce?

She had a feeling that he did it on purpose. However, he didn’t seem like the type of person who’d shy away from a divorce by using a business trip as an excuse. After pondering for a while, she removed his number from her blocked list and texted him.

Not receiving a response from him, Mikayla felt like venting to Wanda. She brushed off the idea soon enough after Molly told her that Wanda wasn’t free since she had to pray in the morning.

Now that she thought of it, Wanda probably wouldn’t assist her in coercing Jerome to sign the divorce

papers.

Just then, Taylor called her. He mentioned that the project deal was a success, so she left promptly.

Molly went to inform Wanda after she watched Mikayla leave. Staring at the diffuser Mikayla gifted to her, Wanda said, “Jerome’s finally gotten some sense in him. It’s the perfect time to go on a business trip.” This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Wanda, but Mrs. Miller seems quite angry. Won’t things take a turn for the worse between them?” Molly

was worried.

Wanda said, “How bad can it be? They’re on the brink of a divorce, after all. Kay seems pretty determined. I’m worried that Jerome’s tactics aren’t going to work.”

“Mrs. Miller used to love him a lot. What happened? How did things get so bad that they’re filing for divorce?” Molly was perplexed.

Shaking her head, Wanda replied, “It’s not her fault. It’s a wonder for her to be able to persevere this long. Jerome has been neglecting her, so she has finally given up.”

“Are they still going to be together in the future?” Molly asked.

Wanda sighed. “I can’t say for sure. It all lies in fate’s hands now.”

Mikayla arrived at Taylor’s office. His legs were propped against the desk, and he looked nothing like a corporate professional. He tossed her the contract once he spotted her.

“All settled.”

He continued, “We bribed Jensen a bit according to your orders and let him witness the potential benefit he could get his hands on. They’re preparing to launch their project now.”

Mikayla was satisfied with Taylor’s efficiency.

“By the way, Professor Xander is ready with all the necessary documents. You have the right to distribute to the market once the contract is signed,” Taylor added.

Mikayla stowed the corresponding documents away. “Alright. I’ll arrange a time to meet with Professor Xander now. I’ll try to close the deal within two days.”

“I’ve accomplished the tasks you’ve assigned. So, can you fulfill your promise now?” Taylor asked.

She recalled the favor he asked from her–he wanted her to perform on the drums once everything was

settled.

“Mr. Blue, aren’t you going to make Ms. Sullivan my assistant? It was a tough pill for me to swallow, you know. Can’t you spare me off the drums?”

“I can’t,” Taylor drawled. “The HR department is responsible for getting you an assistant. It’s strictly professional, but the drum performance is a condition we both agreed on. You can’t go back on your

word.

It didn’t really matter whether he kept things professional or personal when he already had the final say in everything.
