Chapter 25 Backstabber
Chapter 25 Backstabber
Chapter 25 Backstabber
In a villa in the south of the Capital City, Georgina walked back and forth in the living room with an anxious expression on her face. She looked at the door from time to time, and at the moment she heard the noise, Georgina pounced and grabbed the arm of the man entering the door, anxiously asking, "Baker, how did it go?"
The man called Baker was tall. He had a shiny bronze skin and a square face with thick lips. At first glance, he appeared to be a loyal and honest person, but no one would have expected such a person would deal in human trafficking business for a long time, and no one knew how many innocent women he had harmed.
"It's done. I've sent the woman who offended you to the ship myself, and now the ship has left. She'll never be able to come back to the country."
Baker sat down on the sofa. He picked up some grapes on the table and began to eat them. The scorching sun outside was burning the ground. He hadn't done the job in person for years. It was all his men that did it for him. However, because it was Georgina who made the request, he made an exception this time.
On hearing Rejoyla had been sent away, Georgina's eyes flashed with ecstasy. She laughed and thought to herself, "Rejoyla, this is what happens when you cross me. Do you really believe that you can become the lady of the Sterling family after you joined them with Jacquelyn Howardson? Tut! Look at your origin! You fatherless bastard! How dare you piss me off? You'll spend the rest of your life in a poor and remote rural place as a prostitute and will never get out of it!"
The more Georgina thought about it, the happier she got. As long as she took care of Rejoyla, she could return to the Sterling family. She was currently living in her uncle's villa in the south of the city.
She didn't dare to tell them that she had been expelled from the Sterling family. She just said that because there was a new person at home, she felt bored and wanted to come out and relax.
She knew that Bruno was in that kind of business, so she figured she could send Rejoyla away secretly with the help of Bruno. To her surprise, he did it so fast that Rejoyla had been dealt with today.
Upon thinking of this, Georgina felt that she would definitely need him again in the future, so she kindly poured a glass of water and handed it to him. She said, "Thank you, Baker. I know you treat the best!"
Baker didn't take Georgina's cup. He glanced at Georgina and said, "Georgina, I did everything you asked me to do. If you do want to thank me, then do me a favor!"
"What?"
"How is Mr. Sterling's new wife?"
"Ah, why do you ask about Jacquelyn Howardson? She is just an old woman who got lucky. It won't be long before Grandpa kicks her out. She is old and has two daughters. How can she compare to young girls? My grandpa's previous partners were all young girls in their twenties, and they couldn't even stay with him for too long, let alone Jacquelyn. Okay, enough with the killjoy. Baker, what do you want me to help you with?"
Georgina got angry as soon as Jacquelyn was mentioned. Luckily, Rejoyla was gone now. "Jacquelyn must be very sad now," Georgina thought to herself.
Baker frowned slightly at Georgina's words, and he replied perfunctorily, "Oh, nothing. It's just I was fighting for territory with a group of people last time. I spooked them by using the Sterling family's prestige. I hope you can help me put in a good word before the Sterling family."
He decided to wait and see for now. Judging from what Georgina said, Jacquelyn wouldn't be by Mr. Sterling's side for too long. Originally, he wanted Georgina to help him hook up with one of Jacquelyn's daughters, as he knew he wouldn't have the chance to marry a legitimate Sterling. He needed the influence of the Sterling family to support him, so he figured marrying Jacquelyn's daughter was a good choice.
He didn't know Jacquelyn's daughter, whom he was thinking of marrying to, had been sold by him already, since Georgina didn't tell him who she was and only said she was her enemy. He wouldn't have agreed to do it if he had known Georgina became enemies with Jacquelyn, who had just married into the Sterling family.
Georgina wasn't clear, but for someone who had been outside for many years like Baker, knew all too well where the Sterling family stood in the Capital City. Therefore, even the Sterling family's adopted daughter was not someone he could offend.
"That's no big deal. Rest assured. I'll put in a good word for you before Grandpa." Because Rejoyla had been taken care of, Georgina was very happy, so she was quite generous in showing her kindness. They both had a good time. As the sun set, the floor-to-ceiling window in the villa reflected a gorgeous red color, and it shone on Georgina. Georgina smiled happily.
On the deck, however, Rejoyla was having a hard time.
Seeing Rejoyla didn't know how to fight, she was pinned to the ground by the two women. Although there was a helper, the little girl who helped her was as thin as a rail, so they were no match for the other two. In no time, Rejoyla was beaten to the ground.
The blows fallen on her back were heavy and painful. Rejoyla sniffed, and for a moment, she lost her will. She figured that she was locked here already, and that she wasn't sure if she could get out, so she might as well die here if she couldn't. She knew better than what would the women who were sold end up. If she was about to go through that, she'd rather die.
"No... Sisters, I beg you... Stop fighting!"
Next to her, the intermittent cries of the little girl, who was being pinned down, brought back Rejoyla's spirit. No, she didn't even try running away, so how could she give up? Besides, she believed Jason. He would for sure come and save her, like last time. Even though she was not his girlfriend but his elder now, he couldn't just do nothing and let her die. With fragile confidence, Rejoyla rolled her eyes around. Since she couldn't just let them beat her constantly, she started to wonder how to save herself...
While Rejoyla was trying to figure out a way, suddenly the ship stopped. She was on all fours, so when the ship stopped she slid forward owing to inertia. Subconsciously, she put her hands over her head for protection, and when she got up, there was a clicking sound above her head. A light shone into the dark room, and soon someone was coming down from the stairs overhead.
The woman in charge who had threatened to fix Rejoyla hunched over to the man coming down. She said, "Waston, what brought you here? Don't worry. I'm having my eyes on these bunch of little bitches. Everyone is obedient. I was setting the rules for the new comer just now."
Waston was impatient with her flattery, so he quickly interrupted her and said, "You did a good job. Keep an eye on them and make sure there will be no noise later, or else you know the consequence. If you do the job well this time, I can talk to the boss and tell him not to sell you and work for me."
The woman was overjoyed. She rubbed her hands and smiled, revealing her big yellow teeth. She flattered him by saying, "Waston, Trust me, I'll keep an eye on these little botches. Thank you for helping me, thank you..." All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
The man called Waston seemed to be in a hurry. While the woman didn't even finish speaking, he climbed up and covered the entrance. The room became dark again.
On hearing what Waston said to the woman, two of her subordinates came over and said, "Big sister, don't forget us once you get to work with him."
"Yeah, yeah. Big sister, I've been listen to what you say all along. You'll need assistants once you work with Waston, right?"
The woman in charge surely knew what they wanted, but she felt like keeping her alone was as much as Waston could do. After all, these people would all be sold for money. She wouldn't tell them the truth, though. Now it was the high time to make use of the two women.
"No problem. Have I ever treated you badly? Never, right? You just do what I tell you to do, and I'll put in a good word for you before Waston so you two won't be sold to a poor and remote rural place."
As soon as the two of them heard that, their eyes lit up with joy. They looked at Rejoyla cuddling in the corner, and one of them asked, "Big sister, shall we continue beating this little bitch?"
"Are you a fool? Didn't you hear what Waston said? No noise. Listen up you two, if anyone dares to make a noise later, there will be no food for her in the future."
The woman in charge made a threat. She was immediately satisfied with her deterrent power when she saw everyone shrinking their necks and not daring to speak.
After they were caught up, they were given little food to keep them from getting strong enough to escape. The food was just enough to keep them from starving to death. However, the woman in charge felt like she was strong and so she should eat more. She took most of the food by brute strength, and by and by became the leader of them. Unfortunately, after she became the leader, she did not want to unite others to run out, but after being oppressed by the traffickers, she turned to oppress other weak women.
Rejoyla cradled the trembling girl in her arms, who had been shivering since the woman started to talk. It showed her fear of the woman in charge. Rejoyla got lots of anger in her chest. Now she truly witnessed that there was such a villain in the world, and she suddenly felt the dramas in her office was nothing in comparison.
"Don't be afraid!" Rejoyla didn't care the girl's sour smell, her brain quickly running. The ship was now steady, so it must had stopped, and the man Waston just hurried over to tell them not to make any noise. Could it be...
Rejoyla thought of a possibility, and suddenly her eyes lit up. It was a rare opportunity, and if she failed, she would be locked up here at worst.
"Everyone, listen..."
"You shut up!"The woman in charge gave her a vicious look.
Rejoyla quickly stood up. She couldn't miss the chance. "The people on the ship must be in trouble. If we take the chance to get out, maybe we can be saved. I know none of you want to be sold!"
Seeing that the three of them tried to cover her mouth, Rejoyla dodged and continued to lobby, "Those who can make the traffickers worried can definitely save us. Have you decided to accept your fate already?"
The deck was not large. Rejoyla was soon cornered by them. Except for the girl, everyone either sat or lay numb, as if they had not heard Rejoyla's words.
"Keep talking! Why did you stop?" The woman in charge clenched her fists at Rejoyla, her smile hideous in the dim light. "Huh! What's the big deal about being seen by others? Waston got people from above. They'll find you again, and not only will they sell you, they'll sell all your family, too. If you're smart enough, you'd better be good, or else you're going to bring trouble for your family!"
