Chapter 1085
Chapter 1085:
Attempting to rise, Christopher was swiftly knocked back down by Harlee’s kick. She pressed her boot firmly against his chest, looking down on him with disdain as if he were merely an inconvenience.
Lying on the cold ground, Christopher groaned, “Harlee, I was just about to tell you! That slap was uncalled for.” He quickly changed his tone, realizing that leading her inside was now unavoidable.
Harlee’s voice was cold and unwavering.
“I told you my patience is limited. You have one last chance. Where is he?”
“He’s in the secret room,” Christopher blurted out, the words tumbling out faster than he could process.
A moment’s hesitation might mean more punishment.
“Lead the way,” Harlee commanded, glancing down at the pitiful Christopher on the ground. She then dismissed him and strode confidently into the villa.
Christopher scrambled to his feet, brushing himself off while anxiously gesturing for Harlee to follow.
As Rhys often said, Harlee’s influence was undeniable. Or more accurately, those who dared oppose her rarely lived to tell the tale.
At the double doors, Christopher took a deep breath, his expression one of stern resignation.
“Mr. Green is inside.” Harlee’s eyes briefly flickered before she signaled for him to proceed.noveldrama
With trembling hands, Christopher approached the keypad and entered the code, a secret known only to him and Rhys.
The doors creaked open slowly, revealing the room beyond.

Standing at the entrance, Harlee’s gaze swept across the space. There, on an oval mechanical bed, a man lay tightly bound in chains.
Rhys lay motionless, his eyes shut, arms outstretched as if frozen in place.
He appeared to have stopped breathing.
A soft light spilled over his face and the heavy iron chains binding his limbs, their weight seeming unbearable. In that moment, he resembled a lifeless marionette, devoid of soul, utterly still, drained of color.
As Harlee entered the room, she was met with a sight she hadn’t anticipated. She stopped in her tracks, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief. Tears welled up, and she squeezed her eyes shut, overwhelmed by sorrow.
“Lee, soon you’ll be my wife. The thought is so thrilling that I lose sleep over it.”
“Lee, meeting you was the highlight of my existence!”
“I’ve made my choice. I choose to save Nyomi.
But Lee, know that my heart is yours!”
These memories surged in her mind, flaring brightly like a series of fireworks.
She had assumed that Rhys had forsaken their love, leaving her behind, pushing her to erase all memories of what had transpired three years ago. She had deceived herself, telling herself she had never loved him, that he hadn’t gotten into trouble saving her, that they were merely strangers whose paths had once crossed.
