CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1198

Joe silently cursed Nina in his heart a hundred times over. He had his reasons for bringing Yvonne to the hospital, and as the one taking care of her, who was she to interfere? Outwardly, though, he kept his smile, explaining smoothly, "Nothing happened. I just happened to have some free time today, so I brought her in."

After that, he turned to Yvonne and asked gently, "Are you hungry? Let's go get something good to eat."

Yvonne immediately nodded, eagerly repeating that she wanted something delicious.

"Mr. and Mrs. York, let's catch up another time. I'm going to take her to eat," Joe said before walking off with Yvonne.C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

Nina, however, wasn't fooled by Joe's act. As soon as he left, she turned to Nash, voicing her suspicion that Joe was up to something. She insisted that Nash use his connections to find out Joe's true motives.

It was finally her turn for the check-up, so Nash wheeled her into the examination room. While she was inside, Nash called the hospital director. He knew that if anyone could uncover Joe's plans, it would be him.

By the time Nina's check-up was over, the director had already sent Nash an update. Joe planned to have Yvonne's uterus removed.

Nina was livid. She wanted to march straight to Joe and confront him. Nash had to gently remind her that Orion was watching, helping her calm down.

After regaining her composure, Nina suggested, "Maybe we should ask my father to come and take Yvonne away. I'm scared she'll get hurt."

Nash nodded, whispering in her ear, "I'll handle it. Don't worry. I promise everything will be sorted out."

Nina knew she had to be mindful of her own condition and reluctantly agreed to stay calm.

It did not take long for Joe to find out that Nina had discovered his plan. He locked himself in his study for an hour, contemplating his next move.

When he finally came out, he called Yvonne over and held her hand, asking, "Will you ever leave me?"

Yvonne shook her head, her voice childlike as she answered, "No, I'll never leave you."

Joe's expression darkened. "And if someone tries to take you away?"

Yvonne didn't understand and stared blankly at him.

His anger flared, convinced that she wanted to leave. He grabbed her by the chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. "Is that it? You wanted to leave before and now you still want to leave, even like this. Is that it?"

Yvonne, terrified, shook her head as tears began streaming down her face.

"Answer me!" Joe yelled, dragging her to the couch in a fit of rage. He towered over her, his voice cold and menacing. "Don't even think about leaving me. No one else will ever want you. Just accept it."

Yvonne, frightened out of her mind, clung to his pant leg, sobbing uncontrollably. She didn't

understand why he was so angry or what she could do to stop it. All she knew was to cry.

Joe ignored her tears, letting her cling to his leg as she wept. His phone buzzed with a message. Nash had invited him out for drinks.

He chuckled bitterly, wiping Yvonne's tears away with a forced smile. "I'm going out for a bit. Stay here and don't go anywhere, okay?" Yvonne nodded weakly.

As Joe left, he hesitated at the bottom of the stairs before doubling back to lock the door to his study.

The night was quiet, with only the occasional gust of wind. Yvonne curled up on the couch, staring out the window as silent tears fell.

She whispered to herself, "Little sister isn't scared, little sister is brave. Little sister won't cry. Little sister will be good so my brother won't get mad." Muttering to herself, she eventually cried herself to sleep.
