Chapter 1269
Lydia fell silent and closed her eyes. "I just want to be alone for a while."
Quincy respected her need for space and quietly stepped back.
Meanwhile, over at Nash's place, Nash had decided to leave work early today, something he rarely did.
With Lydia and Quincy now running their own operation, he had been single-handedly managing everything at York Corporation, which kept him busy beyond belief.
His wife, Nina, had been holding down the fort at home, handling all the household tasks with grace. Their two kids, Gemma and Orion, had been nothing but sweet and helpful. Little Gemma was always calm, and Orion eagerly helped with whatever he could.
But Nash didn't want this hectic lifestyle to become permanent. While work was important, spending time with his family was what truly mattered to him. So today, he seized the rare opportunity to sneak away early and surprise them at home with gifts. As he pulled up in the driveway, he stepped out of the car with his arms full of presents and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Nina called out from the living room, where she was playing with Gemma. She hurried to the door, and when she opened it, she was greeted by Nash standing there, holding a bouquet of flowers.
"You're home early today," she said with a smile, eyeing the flowers. "And what's this? Flowers? We're practically an old married couple now!"
"Even old couples need a little romance," Nash teased, handing her the bouquet.
Each bloom was carefully chosen, bursting with color, a perfect symbol of his love.
Hearing the voices, Orion came running. "Daddy, pick me up!"
Nash set down the bags he was holding and scooped Orion up in his arms, spinning him around in the living room before putting him down again.
"I brought you something," he said with a grin. "Come see if you like it."
"If it's from you, I love it already!" Orion said without hesitation.
When he saw what it was, his eyes lit up with joy. It was the latest edition of a super hero toy. It was the one he had been wanting but
hadn't mentioned yet. So, his dad had known exactly what to get.
Clutching the toy tightly, Orion beamed, "Dad, I love you so much! This is the best present ever."
"I'm glad you like it," Nash said with a chuckle, before pulling out two more stuffed toys for Gemma. They were small, plush animals that she could easily hold.
Gemma, though still too young to
talk, let out a happy giggle, clearly thrilled with her gifts. Nash leaned down to kiss her on the cheek. She was just so adorable, it was hard to resist. en NovelDrama.Org
Life had truly been good to him. With a loving wife two wonderful children, and the chance to spend precious time with them, Nash felt like the luckiest man alive. There was nothing more he could
Swn for.
He spent a while playing with Gemma, holding her close until she started to doze off. Only then did he gently lay her down to sleep.
Nina came over and asked softly, "What do you want for dinner? I can start cooking now."
But Nash shook his head.
After all those long days at the office, now that he was home, there was no way he was going to let her cook.
"Why don't you hang out with the kids in the living room? I'll take care of dinner," he said as he headed into the kitchen, putting on an apron. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
With Gemma still nursing, there were only three of them to cook for. Orion didn't eat much, so Nash planned on making four small dishes and a soup, just enough for the family.
As he began chopping vegetables, the kitchen door creaked open. Nina stepped in.
"I'll help," she offered. "Orion is starting to get sleepy, and he's lying down next to Gemma for a nap."
With both kids sound asleep, she couldn't bear to disturb them, so she joined Nash in the kitchen instead, ready to lend a hand.
