Chapter 1923
Caleb emerged from the bathroom, his expression completely neutral, as if nothing had happened. That, at least, spared Vera some of the lingering awkwardness.
Still, her mind kept flashing back to what she had seen-the broad chest barely covered by the towel, the long legs that looked even longer than hers.
She quickly shoved those thoughts away.noveldrama
"You okay?" she asked, clearing her throat. "The water cuts off occasionally around here.
"It didn't used to happen much, so we never really got around to fixing it," she added, feeling slightly guilty.
Too much had happened with her family, and something like inconsistent water pressure had never made it onto the priority list.
Now, she kind of regretted that oversight.
Luckily, Caleb didn't seem bothered. "I'm fine. I already finished showering."
Vera let out a breath of relief. Then she remembered the real reason she had come downstairs.
"Oh, right. Do you think Nash will send someone to inspect the factory?"
"He probably will," Caleb said after a brief thought. "Knowing him, you'll hear from someone within a day or two."
That wasn't just false reassurance.
Nash had always been a man of efficiency. He wouldn't waste time once a deal was set. If he had chosen to work with the Mason Corporation, then an inspection would follow immediately.
Vera nodded, then hesitated. "You and Nash seem pretty familiar. Could you tell me more about him? Anything that might help me with the project?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she waved her hands quickly, backtracking.
"I mean-only if it's not inconvenient!"
She wasn't trying to pry.
She just wanted to make the most of this opportunity and avoid potential pitfalls.
Caleb nodded. "Sure. We still have some time before bed. Let's find a quiet place to talk."
She led him to the study.
It had been her father's favorite room, but ever since his illness, the space had gone untouched. Even Vera hadn't stepped inside since he was hospitalized.
As soon as she walked in, the air felt heavy.
Her father's old tea cup still sat on the desk. His favorite paintings hung neatly on the wall.
Everything was exactly as he had left it.
Her throat tightened.
Without a word, Caleb poured her a glass of water and handed it to her.
"Here. This should help."
Vera took a sip and exhaled slowly. "Thanks."
After that, Caleb got straight to business.
He told her everything he
knew-details about Nash's working style, how he handled partnerships, and what he prioritized in
ло
negotiations.
He even gave her an overview of York Corporation's latest projects.
Vera soaked it all in.
This was golden information. She was determined to make the most of it.

The next morning, Caleb had barely left when her phone rang.
She picked up.
"Hello, is this Miss Mason?" A polite
male voice came through. "I'm Nash's assistant. Would you be available to meet? Mr. York has asked me to inspect the factory."
en
Vera straightened.
"Yes, of course! When and where?"
They set up a time, and an hour later, she met with the assistant and led him to the main factory.
From the outside, the facility looked old and worn.
But once inside, the equipment was modern and well-maintained. Everything was in working order. The factory was clean, organized, and clearly had regular upkeep.
The only problem?
It was nearly empty.
Most of the workers had left after the Mason Corporation went bankrupt, and the place had been sitting mostly unused for a while.
Still, the assistant wasn't here to check staffing-his focus was on the equipment.
And from a technical standpoint, everything met York Corporation's requirements.
After taking a few notes, he turned back to Vera.
"I'll report my findings to Mr. York," he said. Then he paused.
"Oh, and one more thing-Mr. York asked me to check if you needed
manpower-whatever you require."

He looked at her expectantly.
What do you think?
