Chapter 40
Chapter 40
Gisele blurted out everything in one breath. Then, she shot a provocative glance at Dorian as he opened the bathroom door.
Watching him rinse and brush his teeth made Gisele feel disgusted, yet she still blew a k*ss
his way.
At that moment, she sprawled seductively on the couch.
On the other end of the phone, Sierra’s voice trembled with tears as she said, “Gisele, have you misunderstood something? I–I didn’t mean to compete with you for Don.”
Her words were choked between sobs, but the sound of her crying through the phone sent shivers down Gisele’s spine.
She shouted at Dorian in the bathroom, “Honey, didn’t you hear how heartbroken your mistress is? If you don’t comfort her soon, her heart will shatter. After all, she is a stunning
woman…
She mimicked Sierra’s coquettish tone as she addressed Dorian.
But before she could finish, he finished rinsing his m*uth, strode over, and snatched his phone away.
“See you later.” With those simple words, he ended the call.
Gisele arched an eyebrow as she feigned amusement. “Can’t handle it, huh? I thought you had limitless patience, but I guess not.”
Dorian’s disgust simmered as he uttered, “You’re absolutely incorrigible!” With that, he walked away.
She sneered, pondering if she was genuinely incorrigible. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
She had loved him to the point of self–torture. She was top–tier love–struck idiot. Was that all she amounted to?
Despite her earlier bravado, she wondered why solitude brought such deep despair.
Gisele curled up on the couch with her arms wrapped tightly around her slender legs in an attempt to ward off the chill. Yet, the hollowness within her gnawed painfully at her core.
“Meow!”
A lively little creature leaped from the floor and landed on the couch beside her.

Its fluffy body nestled gently against her legs, which emanated a comforting warmth against her skin,
With a graceful movement, its tall curved elegantly upwards as It lightly brushed against her ch*ek. The soft meows drow Cisole’s attention to the little creature before her.
She scooped it up and murmured, “Sesame, you’re back.”
She tenderly scratched Sesame’s forehead and chin.
Sesame was a pure white cat with a small patch of black fur on its forehead. It looked like a little sesame seed bum.
The day the burglars had broken In, Gisele had been worried that Sesame would be in danger. Thankfully, it escaped unscathed. Otherwise, she would’ve blamed herself for failing to protect her cat.
The rumble of a car engine outside the manor gate was soon accompanied by approaching footsteps.
Gisele eased back, stroking Sesame, and teased, saying, “Forget something again? Want me to welcome–Grandpa Declan?”
Before she could complete her jestful comment, she turned to find Declan entering with a cane and Alfred by his side.
“Heh, Gisele, are you holding down the fort solo today?” Declan inquired as he strolled in.
She released Sesame and stood up promptly. She hurried over to assist Declan. “Grandpa Declan, Don mentioned an urgent matter at the company and had to leave. Should I call him back?”
“No need. Your face…” Declan sat down and noticed Gisele’s attempt to hide her swollen face.
Before she could respond, his tone turned stern. “Did Don hit you? How could he dare lay a hand on his wife?”
