Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Alexander POV.
As I stood there with Emma and Ethan, my heart was pounding with anticipation and nervousness. I knew this moment would be intense, but nothing could have prepared me for the raw emotions I was feeling.
The kids were still eyeing me cautiously, their initial surprise now settling into a curious, guarded interest. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my voice. “I want to explain something to you both,” I began, looking at their small, expectant faces. “I know it must be confusing, me just showing up like this.”
Emma tilted her head slightly, her big eyes wide. “Why didn’t you come before? Why were you away?”
I felt a lump in my throat. This was harder than I imagined. “Well,” I said, struggling to find the right words, “there were mistakes I made. Things that went wrong between me and your mother. It was my fault. I wasn’t able to be here for you.”
Ethan furrowed his brow. “What mistakes? Why didn’t you fix them?”
I tried to hold back the emotions threatening to spill. “Sometimes, grown–ups make big mistakes, and they don’t always know how to fix them right away. I was one of those people. I should have done better, and I’m sorry for not being here.”
Emma looked thoughtful, but there was a trace of skepticism in her eyes. “So, you’re here now. What are you going to do?”
I nodded, feeling the weight of my words. “I’m here now because I want to be a part of your lives. I want to make things right, if I can. It might take time, but I want to try.
Ethan’s eyes softened, but he still kept his distance. “Morn didn’t say you were coming, else we would have prepared for this meeting. So, pardon us if we seem a bit out of place.”
The vulnerability in his voice struck me deeply. I took a hesitant step closer, feeling the enormity of the moment. “I understand. I’m out of place too. It’s a lot for everyone. But I promise, I’m here now, and I want to be someone you can count
on”
Just then, the door creaked open, and the nanny walked in, her face was of confusion and disbelief. Her gaze flitted between me and the children. It was clear she recognized the resemblance but struggled to process it. Her mouth opened, but no words
came out
I cleared my throat, feeling a sudden surge of determination. “Hello, I’m Alexander Williams Alistair. I’m the children’s father.”
The nanny’s eyes widened in shock, her face turning pale. “You… you’re their father?”
I nodded firmly. “Yes, that’s right. I came to see my children. I’m sorry if this was unexpected.”
The nanny looked back at Emma and Ethan, her expression was of concern and confusion. “I wasn’t informed…I need to speak with Mrs. Davis about this.”
I could see the uncertainty in her eyes. “Please, I’ll wait here. I just want a moment with them.”
The nanny nodded, her voice trembling slightly as she left to make the call. I turned my attention back to Emma and Ethan, my heart aching as I saw the flicker of recognition in their eyes. They were absorbing this new reality, and it was clear they were trying to reconcile this sudden appearance of their father All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Emma finally spoke, her voice soft. “So, are you really going to stay?
I took a deep breath, feeling nothing but utter hope. “Yes, I want to be here. I want to be part of your lives. But it’s going to take time, and I understand if you need space.
Ethan nodded slowly, still keeping his distance. “We just didn’t know what to expect. It’s all new.”
I reached out tentatively, trying to bridge the gap. When I finally gathered the courage to hold them, it was a surreal, emotional experience. Their small bodies pressed against mine, and I felt a rush of emotions I wasn’t prepared for. The reality of being their father hit me like a wave.
Emma and Ethan were smart, perceptive kids. They maintained a cautious distance, but their eyes were filled with a longing that mirrored my own. We were connected, yet still strangers, and the complexity of the situation was overwhelming

As I held them, I could feel the weight of my responsibilities and the depth of the bond we shared. I was their father, but in many ways, still a stranger. The realization was both thrilling and heartbreaking
The door opened again, and the nanny returned with a more composed expression. She gave me a hesitant nod. “Ms. Davis is on her way. She wants to discuss this further,”
I nodded, giving Emma and Ethan one last reassuring look before preparing myself for whatever came next. But for now, I held on to this precious moment, feeling the gravity of being a father for the first time.
As I sat on the edge of the plush hotel sofa, trying to make myself as approachable as possible, Emma and Ethan’s curiosity seemed to outweigh their hesitation. Their little faces were full of questions, and they were determined to get answers.
Emma tilted her head, her eyes narrowing slightly as she asked, “Do you still love our mom!”
The question caught me off guard, and I struggled to find the right words. I hunkered down to their level, my heart aching as I tried to gauge their reactions. “I… I care about your mom very much. What happened between us was complicated, and it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot. But right now, what’s important is being here for you.”
Ethan’s brow furrowed as he asked, “Are you married now? Do you have other kids?”
I felt a pang of guilt. These were questions I wasn’t entirely prepared for. I shook my head slowly. “No, I’m not married right now. I don’t have other children. It’s just me for now.”
Emma’s eyes were wide with curiosity and concern. “So, you’re alone!”
I nodded, feeling the weight of their questions. “Yes, I’m alone. And I want to make things right with you. I want to be here for you both.
I reached out and held them close, trying to offer some comfort amidst the storm of emotions. Their small bodies pressed against mine were a stark reminder of how much I had missed. The touch was both exhilarating and heartbreaking
Just as I was about to continue, the door to the suite burst open with a loud bang. Christiana stood there, her face flushed with anger and disbelief. Her eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, the room seemed to freeze.
“Alex!” Her voice was a fierce, unmistakable mix of shock and fury. “What are you doing here?”
The force of her entrance and the intensity of her gaze silenced everything else. I could feel the weight of her anger and the tension it brought into the room. Emma and Ethan looked up, the
ir faces shifting from curiosity to confusion as they took in the scene.
