Chapter 100
Chapter 100
In the Macclain family’s study, Bennett had just hung up the phone when Simone barged in, her face
ice–cold as she ordered, “You’re not allowed to call Estelle anymore, let’s just pretend we don’t have
this daughter!”
Bennett frowned, “We should at least hear Estelle’s explanation.”
“Explanation for what?” Simone snapped, “She must be jealous that her grandpa introduced a
boyfriend to Carmella, and deliberately went to make trouble! How could she even hit someone? Is this
what a girl should do? What kind of crap did she learn outside these years, acting like a thug!”
Bennett said in a deep voice,, “What kind of boyfriend is Gentry? It’s better this way, if Estelle didn’t go Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
mess things up, do you really want Carmella to marry into the Franco family?”
Simone sneered, “That’s two different things. I don’t want Carmella to marry into the Franco family, but
it’s also true that Estelle is jealous of Carmella and tries to pull tricks on her behind her back.”
“What if it was Carmella who deliberately called Estelle over?” Bennett asked.
“Impossible!” Simone denied it without hesitation.
Bennett knew that Simone had a prejudice against Estelle and no matter what he said, Simone
wouldn’t believe Estelle.
Simone was still furious, “Now we’ve offended the Franco family, and they put all the blame on
Carmella. This is all Estelle’s fault! How could I give birth to such a stubborn and violent daughter?
Anyway, from now on, you’re not allowed to contact her or give her any money. She’s not worth our
investment, we should focus all our energy on Carmella.”
Simone was adamant, “Our future depends on Carmella.”
Bennett frowned but didn’t say anything.
At night, when Jonathan came over, Estelle hugged him and suddenly called out, “Uncle.”
Jonathan stopped, kissing her face in the dark, and chuckled softly, “In trouble again?”
Estelle shook her head, hugged his neck tighter, and moved closer to him…
At one in the morning, Jonathan carried Estelle out of the bathroom, put her on the bed, pulled the quilt
over her and got ready to leave. The bathrobe was suddenly grabbed by her.
He turned back, and Estelle’s clear eyes were staring at him. Perhaps because of the lovemaking
earlier, she looked particularly soft and vulnerable, and her voice was tender too, “You can sleep here
tonight.”
Jonathan never stayed over in the guest bedroom, no matter how late it was, he would go back to the
master bedroom to sleep.
He leaned down, gently touched her hair, “What’s the matter?”
Estelle pursed her pinkish lips, whispering, “Tonight’s movie was a bit scary.”
Jonathan smiled, “So you do get scared.”
Estelle was silent, just gazing at him.
Jonathan felt like he was lightly scratched by a kitten, his voice deep and soft, “Move in.”
Estelle immediately hugged the quilt and moved inward.
Jonathan got into bed, caressed her face, “I’ll leave after you fall asleep, sleep now.”
He wouldn’t stay, he’d just wait for her to fall asleep and then leave.
Estelle snuggled into his arms, smelling the familiar wood scent on him. Although it didn’t belong to her,
it still made her feel at ease. She closed her eyes and whispered, “Don’t wake me up when you leave.”
Jonathan seemed to chuckle a little, “How bossy.”
Estelle gently hushed him, “Stop talking.”
Jonathan wrapped his arms around her slender waist, chuckled again, and sure enough, he didn’t
speak anymore.
Estelle fell asleep quickly, with the faint moonlight casting on her fair face. She was very well–behaved
when asleep, even her breathing was light.
Jonathan looked at the young girl in his arms, quiet and lovely, and inexplicably felt sleepy.
He didn’t know when, but he also fell asleep.
