Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 53

Chapter 53

Simone’s eyes widened in surprise. “Why did you give her such a large sum of money?”

Bennett interjected, “We have been indebted to her for many years. She’s a young woman, and life

hasn’t been easy for her. What’s the harm in giving her some extra money? You spend more than that

on Carmella’s clothes every year.”

Simone looked away guiltily. “I’m just worried that she’ll waste the money and learn bad habits.”

“She didn’t waste it, nor did she learn any bad habits. Instead, she saved the money to buy you a

birthday gift.” Bennett snorted, got up, and left.

Simone felt a bit uneasy and couldn’t tell why. She was just annoyed.

After Estelle finished her class with Henson, Magdalen picked her up at the University of J City’s gate.

They went to Magdalen’s private styling room to change clothes before going to the birthday banquet.

While they were on their way, Estelle received a phone call from Harriet. Harriet quickly briefed her on

the events that had unfolded at the Copeland family’s residence earlier that day.

Estelle responded with a hum to indicate that she knew.

After hanging up the phone, Magdalen asked her what happened.

Estelle told Magdalen what Harriet said. Magdalen got so angry that she cursed, “That shameless bitch

deserves to be laughed at!’ve told you before that your sister is no good, otherwise your birth mother

wouldn’t have been so cold to you all these years!”

She snorted again, “Who cares? She treats a slut like a treasure, and she’ll regret it someday!”

Estelle recalled her previous visit to the Macclain family as she stared out of the car window, her gaze

filled with cold detachment.

When they arrived, Mrs. Sampson was waiting outside for both of them.

As the car stopped, Mrs. Sampson rushed over and hugged Estelle. “My baby, how long has it been

since I’ve seen you? You’ve become even more beautiful!”

She scrutinized Estelle from head to toe, her eyes gleaming with growing admiration.

Estelle was adorned in a black, one-shoulder velvet knee-length dress, featuring bubble sleeves

meticulously chosen by Magdalen. The outfit was both cute and subtly alluring, perfectly suited for the

semi-formal banquet.

Estelle was already delicate and lovely. Today, with her hair up and some light makeup, she looked

ethereal and stunning.

She didn’t like being too intimate with people, but she could never refuse Mrs. Sampson.

Estelle turned her head to seek help from Magdalen, who leaned against the car door, only laughing at

Estelle’s predicament.

When Magdalen was twelve, she was kidnapped. The kidnappers wanted to extort the Sampson family,

but they met Estelle halfway.

Estelle followed the kidnappers’ car to their lair, beat the four men to their knees, and saved Magdale

The Sampson family saw Estelle as a lifesaver. They adopted her as a goddaughter and treated her

like own daughter, despite the Jarvis family’s objections.

Mrs. Sampson also sent Magdalen to the Jarvis family to learn something with Estelle. Magdalen

stayed there for a summer vacation, and although she didn’t learn well, she became lifelong friends

with Estelle.

After chatting for a while, Mrs. Sampson led them to the birthday banquet.

As they entered the yard, Mrs. Sampson chuckled, “The noisy ladies upstairs aren’t suitable for young

folks like you. Why don’t you two head to the first-floor banquet for some food and drinks? We can all

go to the hot spring together after the party.”

Magdalen showed little interest, stating, “What’s so exciting about eating and drinking? I heard there’s

a major spectacle happening today, a showdown over the Copeland family’s assets. We must go and

witness it!”

Mrs. Sampson didn’t find it appealing, retorting, “What’s so fascinating about that? Behave now, take

Ella and enjoy some delicious food. I’ll fill you in on the big show later.” She nudged Magdalen and

emphasized, “Take good care of Ella!” Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

Estelle stood there in silence, taking in the conversation.

Because she knew nothing about J City when she first came, Mrs. Sampson had always treated her as

a child.

“I got it!” Magdalen waved her hand impatiently and walked to the banquet on the first floor, arm in arm

with Estelle.
