Chapter 996
"What's trending?" Mr. Richard asked casually. Wasn't the University of Maple Grove often in the news? Was there really a need for such a fuss?
Reluctantly, the assistant handed his phone to Mr. Richard. "It's about Professor Flora..."
At the mention of 'Flora,' Mr. Richard sat up straight, his expression turning serious. Jules hurried over, and when they saw what was on the screen, they were shocked.
"Damn it! Who wrote this? I swear, I'm gonna find them!" Jules exclaimed, unable to hold back.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
Mr. Richard's face turned serious. He hadn't expected that appointing Flora as an honorary professor would cause such a commotion. The online comments were harsh and unfair. But thankfully, he was ready for this. He instructed his assistant, "No need to panic. Just follow my plan."
Meanwhile, in the University of Maple Grove lab, Dr. Ray also saw the trending topic and was fuming.
"Are these people out of their minds?" Darcy snapped, gritting her teeth. "Claiming Flora hasn't contributed to academia? Saying she has no major achievements?"
If they only knew the half of Flora's accomplishments, they'd be stunned!
Dr. Ray stormed into his office and grabbed his tablet. He was determined to set the record straight for these clueless netizens.
At the same time, over at the National Department of Health, Mr. Tanner had just wrapped up a meeting when his assistant filled him in on the Twitter drama. He couldn't help but laugh in disbelief when he checked it out. What nonsense! Questioning if Flora deserved to be an honorary professor at the University of Maple Grove?
Honestly, he had practically begged her to join as Deputy Minister at the National Department of Health, and she had turned him down. The university should be grateful she accepted their offer at all!
He was fired up and ready to clear up these rumors and make a good impression on Flora before anyone else could.
While everyone else was in a frenzy, Flora herself was having a leisurely day out with Connor.
The two of them were strolling through the bustling commercial street, right in the heart of Maple Grove.
"Hey, mister, buy some flowers for your girlfriend," a shy little girl approached, holding out a bouquet.
She couldn't have been more than eight, barely reaching Connor's
waist. Her coat was worn, and her cheeks were rosy from the cold, her little hands red with chilblains.
"Pretty flowers for a pretty lady, right? Maybe if you give her one,
she'll say yes if you propose," the girl
suggested with a cheeky heet
Flora bent down with a smile. "How about this, little sister? Give me a few more compliments, and I'll buy all your flowers." The girl lit up and showered Flora with praise, calling her a celestial beauty, a face that could launch a thousand ships. Flora's smile widened as she took the flowers. "You're quite the charmer, little sister. I'll take them all. Connor, pay up." Connor pulled out five hundred dollars from his wallet, along with some frostbite cream, and handed them to the girl. As she stared in disbelief, he added, "Little sister, you got it wrong. The lady with me isn't just my girlfriend. She's my fiancée." "And the only love of my life."
The girl, clutching her unexpected windfall, ran off, half-giggling, half-baffled.
Flora, cradling the flowers, looked at Connor with a playful glint in her eye. She mimicked his tone, "Brother?"
"Brother-" she teased, drawing out the word as she leaned in close to his ear, her warm breath tickling him. Connor froze. "Brother-"
"Cut it out, we're in public," Connor protested, covering her mouth with his hand. He paused, then added with a soft smile, "Save it for when we're home."
