Joshua furrowed his brows, lost in thought. "Seems like the powerful mastermind behind them is nothing to scoff at."

He tapped his fingers absentmindedly on the table's edge. "Did you check in with the Reynolds family?" John nodded. "I did. Their story hasn't changed. They insist that Mr. Leo Reynolds didn't know Sue was interested in you. They were claiming it was just a friendly relationship."

Lily, the head of the litigation department, sent out a message in the group chat.

Lily: [Hey team, we're having a departmental dinner tonight. It's totally optional. I'll drop the time and place in the chat soon.]

Shortly after, Joy messaged Allison privately.

Joy: [Hey Ms. Allison, you going tonight?]

Joy and Allison had become close ever since Allison saved Joy from a sticky situation. Joy was filled with admiration and gratitude; she was practically Allison's biggest fan.

Later, Lily assigned Joy to be Allison's assistant, and they became friends.

Allison replied: [Yeah, why not? Nothing else going on after work.]

Jack had been officially arrested on criminal charges.

Elliott faced Allison's lawsuit for defamation. Once the court took the case, Elliott was too embarrassed to stick around and quit voluntarily.

The firm had a nice vibe now, and Allison genuinely liked her coworkers, so she was all in for the dinner.
