Chapter 131
Allison dropped her gaze, watching her fingers intertwined with Joshua's. With a smirk, he said, "After being with me, you wouldn't waste your time with trash like him."
He had a point.
Allison leaned closer to Joshua, smiling sweetly. She looked like the perfect picture of a devoted girlfriend. "Joshua, you're right. Now, my heart belongs only to you. Why would I think about such silly past flings?"
Shawn's smile vanished, his expression turning stormy. Was that all he was to her—just a silly fling? His hand clenched into a tight fist as he fought to keep his anger in check.
Meanwhile, Lillian's eyes flickered with jealousy as she silently cursed Allison a thousand times over.
Sabrina jumped in with a sarcastic tone, "Oh, Celena, no wonder the Trent family can't keep up. You're chasing after Allie's leftover, how embarrassing."
"Who are you calling a leftover?" Shawn snapped, unable to hold back.
Celena was flushed with anger and was ready to fire back at Sabrina, but a glance at Brian standing nearby made her bite her tongue. She couldn't afford to mess with the Swanson family.
"I'm talking about you," Sabrina replied, arms crossed, watching Shawn with satisfaction. "You're Shawn, right? Being with you is like having a mark on Allison's record. Luckily, she wised up and kicked you to the curb. Didn't you hook up with your so-called true love? Why isn't she out here enjoying the sunshine with you?"
Shawn was seething, ready to explode.
Lillian noticed and tugged at his arm. "Come on, everyone, let's not make a big deal out of this. It is just a misunderstanding—my bad. I didn't know Shawn and Allison used to date."
Lillian bit her lip, her eyes welling
with tears as she looked at Joshua,
appearing pitifully vulnerable.
"Joshua, honestly didn't know Shawn was Allison's ex. I thought he wasjust a friend of Celena's You won't hold it against me, right?"
Just as Joshua opened his mouth, Allison cut in, imitating Lillian's innocence. "It was just an honest mistake, Lillian. How could I blame you? Joshua won't blame you either."
Joshua wasn't sure where Allison was headed with this, but he played along, saying coldly, "If Allie doesn't blame you for this, neither do I."
Lillian was left speechless, staring at Allison in confusion. Allison flashed Lillian a sweet smile that made her uneasy-what was Allison up to?
Inside, Allison chuckled to herself, thinking. "You want to play games? Let's see who wins."
Just then, George, who had been quietly watching the drama unfold, spoke up, "Hey, let's not just stand around. Let's grab some food and take a breather. We'll need the energy for the hike."
The crowd dispersed, and everyone started setting up the folding tables and chairs they'd brought. Once the tablecloths were laid out, an array of cooked foods, drinks, and fresh ingredients were neatly arranged.
Barbecue grills, charcoal, portable stoves, pots, and pans—every picnic essential was ready. Everyone got busy grilling meat and cooking dishes.
Allison and Sabrina, both fans of barbecue, teamed up at the grill.
Sabrina asked, "Why don't you just get rid of him?"
She meant Shawn.noveldrama
Allison calmly brushed sauce onto a skewer of beef. "It's not that simple. You get rid of him once, and he just pops up again. I've tried before. Didn't work."
What do you think?
