Chapter 670
"I've been removed from all my duties at the McKinney Group by your boss. I have to explain things to my boss, don't I? And who else would compensate for my loss?" Debra explained.
Not buying it, Kale extended his hand and demanded, "Give me the phone."
"Alright." Debra complied.
Kale spoke into the phone. "Who's this?"
"Hello, this is the secretary office of the McKinney Group. Is Ms. Frazier doing alright?" Marion replied.
Kale frowned and handed the phone back to Debra. "Mr. Lowe forbids you to contact anyone outside."
Debra hung up the phone. "Alright. In that case, tell Mr. Lowe that he owes me 30 thousand dollars in lost wages. If I don't see that money in my account soon, I'll make sure to make things very difficult for you." Kale's frown deepened. "Do you really need that money?"
"You can figure that out," Debra said. "You know, someone lured Ralph into gambling, which caused my family to go broke. I've just finished paying off my debts thanks to my divorce settlement with Juan. 30 thousand dollars might be pocket change to Mr. Lowe, but that's months of living expenses for me."
Her statement was reasonable, and Kale started to believe her.
Debra looked at him and continued, "If you don't believe me, you can check it out. The balance in my account is probably a few thousand dollars, and I have bills to pay next month, so if you don't plan on giving me, don't try to stop me from getting it from the company." Kale hesitated for a moment. "We'll look into it."
He stepped aside and added stiffly, "Please head upstairs now."
Debra had no choice but to comply.
At least, she had managed to inform Marion where she was. He should be arriving soon.
As the sky darkened, Debra sat by the window, her eyes fixed on the streets below, waiting for Marion to show up.
Suddenly, a knock came at the door, making her heart skip a beat.
She opened the door and saw Kale standing outside.
"Anything?"
"Mr. Lowe would like to see you."
"Now?"
"Is there a problem?"
"No, it just seems a little early."
"It is the right time." Kale stepped aside
