His Unveiled Passion

Chapter 421

Stephen's voice was hoarse as he said, "I didn't come here alone. Samson's here with me, and we've been taking turns driving. Tess, my heart won't be at ease until I see you in person."

Under normal circumstances, it would take about ten hours to drive over 560 miles without traffic. However, with the flooding in Haverford, it would take them much longer to reach.

Tessa tightened her grip around Melody's phone, and she felt her heart skip a beat as her eyes stung slightly.

She was clearly touched by his gesture, but the moment she opened her mouth, her words came out sharp. "Who asked you to come? It's dangerous here with all the flooding! Whose heart are you trying to touch with such a gesture?

"I won't be able to take responsibility if anything happens to the precious heir of the Jacobson family. I'm fine, so you should just turn back. You don't need to come here."

Stephen chuckled self-deprecatingly. "No one asked me to come here. I came because I want to. Tess, don't worry. If anything happens, it'll be my own fault and won't have anything to do with you."

Tessa's throat tightened, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Stephen, you're not allowed to come here. Turn back now!"

The town she was in was remote, and floods surrounded them. There was even a risk of a landslide happening nearby.

It was too dangerous for Stephen to come, and she could not let him walk into such danger.

However, Stephen did not listen. To her surprise, his voice began to tremble as he said, "Tess, if anything happens to you, life would lose its meaning."

Tessa's heart skipped a beat. However, the feeling was quickly replaced by a sharp stab of pain in her heart.

"I'm not afraid of danger. I'm only afraid that I'll never be able to see you again," he said.

After the storm, the sky had cleared. The setting sun slowly peeked through the clouds, casting a warm orange glow across the horizon. The clouds looked as if they had been set ablaze by the sunlight, casting a beautiful glow in the sky.

Tessa exhaled gently as tears blurred her vision.

That night, Tessa could not sleep. She kept thinking of Stephen, and her heart was heavy with unease.

Even though the rain had stopped, the town she was in was too secluded, so most of the floodwaters nearby had not receded fully.

Worried sick that something might happen to him, she kept tossing and turning in bed. Suddenly, someone knocked on her door.

She got up to open the door, only to see Melody standing outside. Tessa asked, "What's wrong?"

Melody handed Tessa her phone

and said, "Tessa, the guy who called just now just sent me a mess You should take a look." noveldrama

Tessa took a deep breath and

lowered her head to look at her

phone. The message read

worry about me. Sleep early, and I'll

see you tomorrow." fo

At that moment, Tessa's anxious heart immediately settled as she relaxed her tensed body. With

pursed tips,

she handed the

bo Melody. "Thank you. Sorry to trouble you so late at night."

"It's no trouble at all. You should get some rest," Melody said softly.

When Tessa lay back on her bed again, all the worry and anxiety she felt vanished in an instant.

He claimed he'd see her tomorrow. Those simple words had held such a profound promise in them.

For some inexplicable reason, the hopeful feeling inside Tessa felt nice.

As sleepiness crept upon her, Tessa closed her eyes and drifted off into deep sleep.

...

Early the next day, the sun had just risen when Tessa was woken by a commotion downstairs.

She opened her eyes and seemed to have remembered something as she immediately shot up from her bed.

Stephen!

He said he'd reach Haverford at around midnight.

Tessa rushed to get dressed and quickly ran a brush through her hair before dashing downstairs.

All the water had receded, but the wet stains remained visible on the cement floor.
