Chapter 1101: Jim, You're Not Cut Out for Lying

Jim stepped forward and handed the gift box to Nelson. "I had ordered this gift earlier and just went to

pick it up. Ran into some traffic on the way back, so I'm a bit late."

"Jim, you're not cut out for lying," Nelson remarked, though he still took the gift box from Jim's hand.

"What did you buy? I've already given you a gift."

Jim looked at him and ruffled his hair, saying, "Well, double the blessings then."

Nelson nodded and then asked, "Are you... alright?"

"What could be wrong with me?" Jim replied, taking out a delicate box from his pocket and handing it to

Nelson. "This is for you."

Nelson glanced at the box Jim was offering, his eyebrows slightly furrowing. "A freebie?"

Jim couldn't help but chuckle. "Yeah, a freebie, buy one get one."

As he spoke, Jim extended his hand forward.

When Nelson saw the ring on Jim's hand, his breath caught for a moment. He then handed the box

back to Jim and asked, "Have you ever seen anyone wear their own engagement ring?"

Jim suppressed his smile, opened the box, took out the ring, and reached for Nelson's hand. He slid

the ring onto Nelson's finger, saying, "Now you can join in the celebrations on anniversaries, make it a

lively affair with Brandon and the gang."

Nelson clicked his tongue. "I don't have the guts for that. Brandon might actually punch me if he gets

angry. I've never been able to beat him since we were kids."

"Don't I count?"

Upon hearing Jim's words, Nelson looked directly at him and questioned, "Have you always been by

my side?"

"Always."

Nelson responded with a nod. "Let's head inside. You're the only one missing."

The guests at the Hawkins family event were mostly Brandon's classmates, friends, and close

associates. There were around ten or so people, both male and female.

"Mr. Hawkins seems quite popular. He's a hit with both men and women," Bonnie teased Sandy as they

observed the guests arriving.

Sandy, who was busy amusing Mles, didn't even spare a glance for Bonnie. She continued, focused on

her task, "Brandon is good-looking and kind-hearted. That's why."

Rolling her eyes, Bonnie remarked, "We all know Mr. Hawkins is wonderful. No need to reiterate."

Sandy nodded with a smile. "Of course."

Maya and Kason had personally prepared the food for the event. They had enlisted the help of Maya's

close friends to assist in the cooking.

The young crowd gathered together, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.

"Come on, let's raise a toast to Mr. Hawkins tonight. Congratulations on being the first to step into the

realm of marriage. May your life be filled with happiness and bliss!"

Someone shouted, and others quickly joined in.

Sandy and Yanis, however, refrained from drinking alcohol. Stella and Bonnie couldn't escape their

fate, with Bonnie's condition being relatively better since she had to look after Mles. Stella, on the other

hand, lacked the courage to join in the drinking. In fact, even Sandy's share of the alcohol was split

between Stella and Brandon.

After all, both Stella and Brandon had their reasons for being involved. One was a soon-to-be-husband,

and the other was a dear sister.

The festivities went on, and as the night progressed, most of the guests became increasingly tipsy.

Apart from Yanis and Sandy, the only sober ones were Maya and Zane.

Amidst the boisterous scene, Maya suggested, "Why don't we let them stay in the living room like this?

We don't have enough guest rooms, and getting designated drivers for so many people at this hour

would be a hassle."

Sandy glanced at Maya and asked, "Do you think that's a good idea?"

Maya whispered, "Don't worry. These people might lead privileged lives, but they're not petty. When

Brandon brought them over before, they managed with makeshift arrangements for the night and left

early the next morning."

Sandy considered Maya's words but still hesitated, suggesting, "How about we help them lay out some

floor cushions and create some separation? Since they've been drinking, it might be better to avoid any

potential issues."

After all, with alcohol involved, it was best to take precautions.

Maya nodded. "We'll take care of that. You guys go upstairs and rest."

"More people, quicker work," Yanis chimed in.

With a hint of intoxication, Bonnie struggled to hold Mles steadily. Concerned, Yanis took Mles from her

arms and handed him to Zane. "Zane, hold him."

Zane looked at the unexpected bundle Yanis had thrust into his arms, squinting his eyes slightly.

"Yanis, are you sure I can hold him?"

"Give it a try."

With that said, Yanis joined Maya to find some bedding and arrange the floor space for the guests.

By the time everyone was settled, it was well past 1 AM.

Yanis and Zane initially considered returning to their hotel, but Maya convinced them to stay. "It's too

late to go back now. Stay here and rest. There are some spare rooms upstairs. You and Mr. Lawrence

can use them. Bonnie, Stella, and I will share a room."

Yanis hesitated for a moment before agreeing, "Alright."

Maya provided Yanis with some clean clothes. "These are all new, never worn before."

"No worries, thanks,

sis."

"Get some rest. It's been a tiring day for everyone." After exchanging a few words with Sandy, Maya

headed back to her room.

The night seemed to bring restful slumber to most, but there was at least one person who remained

awake.

Jim sat on the side, a cigarette between his fingers. Despite being buzzed from the alcohol, his mind

was remarkably clear.

Beside him, Nelson lay asleep, unaware of Jim's lingering gaze fixed upon him. The depth of Jim's

affection was hard to conceal.

The cigarette burned halfway as Jim took only a single drag. Suddenly, his pocket vibrated.

He pulled out his phone to see a call from the Bart family. Sighing, Jim answered, "What's the matter?"

"Aren't you coming back? Do you plan on not returning at all?" The voice on the other end of the line

was dark, laced with anger.

Jim replied in a hushed voice, "I'll be back tomorrow morning."

"Come back immediately! Otherwise, I can't guarantee that the Penn family will still be in Viteto

tomorrow morning!"

Those words hit Jim like a ton of bricks, leaving him immobilized.

"I understand. I'm heading back now."

Jim hadn't expected to be outwitted by his own mother. One moment she had offered warm blessings,

and the next she had blindsided him, catching him off guard. She had nearly dealt a fatal blow.

After hanging up the call, Jim stood in place for a long time before finally turning and heading back

inside.

Everyone was fast asleep, their slumber deep. Jim had the freedom to openly gaze at Nelson, even

leaning down to kiss him without restraint. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

With a final glance, Jim rose to his feet and, without a word, left the Hawkins family gathering.

Once he was in his car, Jim retrieved his phone and sent a lengthy message to Brandon. Then, he

blocked all of Nelson's contact information and tossed his SIM card out of the window.

Starting the engine, he stepped on the gas, leaving the Hawkins family behind.
