Regina knew that she might not be the smartest person in any room, but she possessed one skill few others

Micah's silence could mean many things-anger, acquiescence, exhaustion, disinterest.

'I'll get a taxi back to the office.'

Norris scrambled out of the car as well. 'Boss, I'm coming with you.'

'But Micah, what about me?' Regina stuck her head out the open window.

Micah handed his laptop case to his assistant, ignoring the woman.

He couldn't tolerate spending another second in the car with Regina.

Did she think he couldn't understand her innuendoes?

She was implying Darya was a slut who slept around.

For a second back there, Micah was tempted to shove Regina out of the moving

car but managed to check

himself.

It was against his code of conduct to lay a hand on a woman, even a deceitful, spiteful woman like Regina.

He stood on the side of the road, watching out for coming taxis.

Regina tried to get out of the car. 'Micah, come on. I thought you were coming with me.'

'I have work to do. Bryant will take you to the hotel.'

'Will you at least let me stop by your house? I want to say hi to Felicia and your parents.'

them through.

A private lift took them from the basement carpark to the top floor.

Callan swiped a keycard.

The door snicked open.

Darya took in the spacious living room flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling glass wall. 'Looks clean."

'Chris probably called for a housekeeping team before we came back. Callan yawned hugely and dropped himself onto a sectional sofa.

'Your assistant deserves a raise.' Darya checked the time. 'I need to go. You can order take-out for lunch.' 'What? You are not staying with me?' Callan sprang to his feet. 'I thought we were spending the day together.'

'I thought so, too. But work calls.'

'Dad's not in the country. Neither's Avery.' Callan pouted. 'And now you are abandoning me, too.'

'I'm not abandoning you.' Darya smiled at her childish brother. 'We are having

dinner later. I've already booked

a restaurant.'

'But I want us to have lunch together.' Callan rested his head on Darya's shoulder

even though he was taller than her. 'I don't like to eat alone.'

'Chris is on his way here.'
