Chapter 149 Juvenile Antics

Rolling down the window, Darya asked, 'What do you want?'

'My car broke down, and I have a meeting to attend. Can you give me a ride?' Micah's tone remained calm as

he gestured toward the parked Maybach,

Beside the Maybach, Norris crouched, holding a nail in his hand, feeling a pang of regret.

He thought his boss had gone out of his mind when Micah asked him to puncture the Maybach's tyres, but

then he had to do as told.

After all, Micah was the boss.

Norris groaned inwardly.

At the same time, he couldn't help but feel amused by his boss's juvenile attempt to get close to Darya.

'Not going in the same direction,' Darya replied curtly, rolling up the window, intending to ignore Micah

completely.

To her surprise, a hand slid between the window and the roof of the car, preventing it from closing fully.

'You didn't even ask where I was going. How do you know it's not on the way?'

Micah stared into Darya's eyes.

Frustration washed over Darya.

'Mr Cavanaugh, don't you understand?' Darya lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes directly. 'As long as it's a place

you're going, then I'm not.'

A heavy silence filled the air.

Micah's eyes darkened, and his lips pressed into a thin line.

Could it be that their relationship had deteriorated to the point where they couldn't even be friends anymore?

Darya wasn't like this with any other man.

After a moment of tense silence, Darya was about to send Micah away when he spoke again. 'Are you sure you won't come with me to the place I'm headed?'

Confused, Darya furrowed her brow, ready to retort, but Micah chuckled. 'I'm about to head into a meeting with Starlight's shareholders, to buy from them a ten per cent stake in the company.'

Darya was stunned.

What did he mean?

She turned her gaze to Glen Chasey, seeking an explanation.

Glen took a deep breath and reluctantly said, 'I was just about to tell you that several of Starlight's

shareholders have sold the right of first refusal to Mr Cavanaugh. He gets to decide if he wants to buy the shares himself or give the right to someone else. His office has reached out to me earlier. They are willing to transfer the right to us. They just sent me a copy of the contract, pending Mr Cavanaugh's and your signatures.'

Darya shot Glen a reproachful look, expressing her dissatisfaction for not informing her earlier.

Glen looked away.

He had wanted to tell her, but the opportunity never presented itself.

Meanwhile, Micah stood outside the car, observing the exchange inside with a smile playing on his lips.

He retracted his hand from Darya's window, believing that she had found her

answer.

Now, he only had to wait to see what she would do next.

Time ticked by, but Darya remained silent, lost in thought.

Disappointed, Micah turned around, ready to leave, when Darya finally spoke up. 'Wait.'

Micah flashed a smile, his steps halting as he faced Darya once again.

She clenched her fists, her determination evident. 'Glen, open the door for Mr Cavanaugh.'

Glen Chasey swiftly complied, quickly stepping out of the car to open the rear left door for Micah, bowing respectfully.

Micah took a seat beside Darya.

Finally, Darya looked at the document Glen handed to her earlier.

It was a share transfer agreement.

As she suspected, Micah's signature was missing.

'Mr Cavanaugh, why the sudden change of heart regarding the shares?' she

asked, her voice laced with curiosity and a hint of suspicion.

She couldn't fathom why Micah would willingly give up the shares.

Did he have ulterior motives, or was he genuinely trying to help her?

Micah's gaze flickered to Darya, catching the wariness in her eyes.

It seemed she still harboured doubts about his intentions.

Without uttering a word, he took the document from her hand and swiftly signed his name on it before returning it to her with the same nonchalant grace.

'Do you believe me now?' he asked.noveldrama

Darya's eyes widened as she looked at the signature before composing herself.

She sighed her name, tucked away the contract and looked ahead. 'Glen, make sure to transfer the money to Mr Cavanaugh promptly."

This was to be a strictly business transaction.

She couldn't accept anything from Micah for free.

Glen nodded. 'Yes, boss.'

Darya allowed herself a small smile.

She turned to Micah, her expression turning mischievous. 'Mr Cavanaugh, your relationship with Amelia seems quite strong. Why be so ruthless to her? You know very well that without Starlight, she's nothing in the

industry.'

Her mind raced as memories flooded back, emotions churning within her.

Why had she fallen in love with a man so cold and indifferent?

A man who had the capacity to ruin Amelia's future, send Regina to the police

station, and treat her like a

mere blood bank after their marriage.

It was a question she struggled to answer, even after all these years.

Micah's heart trembled at Darya's words, the weight of his actions finally sinking

in.

'Darya, I'm sorry,' he murmured, the words heavy with regret.

Darya felt a mix of flattery and bitterness at Micah's apology.

She raised her head, a cold smile playing on her lips.

'So you do know how to apologise,' she said sarcastically, her eyes narrowing. 'I thought 'sorry' wasn't in your vocabulary. But apologies can't change the past. They're useless now."

She turned her head to look out the window.

Micah's guilt was genuine, yet Darya showed no inclination to accept his apology.

The pain she had endured couldn't be assuaged by mere words.

The wounds ran too deep.

'Boss, Mr Cavanaugh, we've arrived,' Glen interjected, his voice filled with relief

as he addressed the two impassive figures in the backseat.

The journey hadn't been long, but it felt arduous for Glen.

Darya wasted no time, opening the car door and striding towards the entrance of Starlight's grand building.

Micah followed closely behind.

Inside the conference room on the top floor, directors and shareholders flocked to greet the two figures, all except representatives from the Langford family. Darya and Micah exchanged polite pleasantries before Darya seized the opportunity to escape excusing herself with a phone call.

crowd,

This meeting would decide Starlight's future.
