Chapter 5 The Source of Foul Energy
Chapter 5 The Source of Foul Energy
Just after Samir pulled the silver needle from Ruben's philtrum, his eyes suddenly turned red and he bit
Samir on the arm.
"Ouch! Let go. Quickly, let go. It hurts me... ah!"
The youth bit really hard and Samir could not break free. If he forced to pull his arm away, he was
afraid that a piece of flesh would be torn off.
"Ruben, Ruben, let go!" Laura cried out in horror.
"How could this happen?" Even Ronald, who had been in the business world for decades and had
killed people without batting an eyelid, was stupefied.
"Dr. Yameen!" Viviana exclaimed with a worried look on her face.
Dean Coleman was calmer and turned his head to look at Atlas, "Mister, please help them."
Ronald was the second to react. It was Atlas who had just healed his son.
"It was my fault just now. Please help save my son!"
Laura knelt down directly to Atlas, "Doctor, please save my son!"
"Mister!" Augustin stressed his tone and bowed to Atlas.
Atlas supported Augustin up and said in a gentle voice, "Dean Coleman, please get up."
Atlas then walked over, expressionless, snatched away the silver needle from Samir, and re-pinned it
on Ruben's philtrum acupoint.
Ruben instantly let go, while a piece of flesh fell right off Samir's arm.
"Well, this..." Looking at the wound on his arm, Samir was shocked.
The flesh and blood around that wound had unexpectedly turned black.
Augustin was shocked and asked, "Mister, what happened to Dr. Yemeen's wound?"
Atlas said impassively, "Foul Energy infested the flesh and blood. If it's not treated in time, his whole
arm will be ruined."
"You're just being alarmist!" Samir was stubborn and reluctant to admit his defeats but left straight
away. Presumably, he went to treat the wound.
The young man came to his senses again, "Dad, what happened?"
"Ruben, how are you feeling?" Ronald asked worriedly.
"I feel very weak and want to rest." Ruben looked disheveled and seemed exhausted.
Ronald had no more doubts about Atlas' words and looked respectful as he inquired, "Doctor, my son
was in good spirits just now. Why does he look so tired?"
Atlas snorted, "If we let him be attacked by Foul Energy again, he will die for sure!"
Ronald knelt down to Atlas with a thump, "Doctor, please save my son. Just name me a number!"
Ronald seemed to have noticed that Atlas was respectful towards Augustin, so he hastily pleaded him,
"Dean Coleman, please help me speak to this mister!"
Ronald was one of the top three bigwigs in Lanceham, so Augustin naturally had to give him face.
"Mister, doctors shall have a benevolent heart. I really wish you can lend a hand to this family."
Atlas nodded and suddenly turned to Ronald, "Now all we have to do is find the source of the Foul
Energy, exorcise it, and he can heal after a period of recuperation."
Ronald looked puzzled, "But where exactly is the source of Foul Energy? I don't even know!"
Atlas looked at him, sending shivers down Ronald's spine, "The source of Foul Energy is in your home.
Because you are also infested with Foul Energy."
"What!" Ronald's face paled in shock.
"No wonder I've been feeling uneasy and restless lately, and the hospital check-ups didn't show
anything wrong with me."
"Doctor, I implore you to help me find the source of Foul Energy. I am willing to pay one million!"
Augustin also rushed to bow and said, "Yes, just help Mr. Kimmerly." C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
Although Atlas didn't care about money, he couldn't really do without it if he wanted to live in the mortal
world.
"Lead the way!" Atlas said.
"This way, please!" Ronald was excited.
The Kimmerly family went away, and Augustin followed to see what all the fuss was about. Viviana was
the only one left in the ward.
Looking at Atlas' back as he left, a flash of anger appeared on Viviana's beautiful face.
"Atlas Lincoln, you’re lucky that you even got this right. Even Ronald and Dean Coleman believed your
bullshit, but you can't fool me!"
The Kimmerly's villa was a European-style building and looked very luxurious.
"Doctor, please!" Ronald said as he used his fingerprints to unlock the door.
When Atlas first approached the Kimmerly's villa, he had already felt a very strong Foul Energy in the
place. Originally, he was only guessing, but now he was sure.
The source of the Foul Energy was in the Kimmerly family.
Atlas walked slowly, and the others followed suit cautiously as they slowed their pace.
Ruben was a wealthy, foppish young man. He couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Ronald, who had
always been a wise and powerful man, wearing this guilty look on his face.
"Dad, you really believe we have Foul Energy in our house, don't you?"
"Shut up!" Ronald gave him a fierce glare, which immediately silenced Ruben.
"Doctor, have you found the source?" Ronald asked respectfully.
"Not yet," Atlas replied tersely.
The Kimmerly family had been bedeviled by Foul Energy for so long that the whole building was filled
with it, like a basin of water blackened by ink. It wasn't easy to find the first drop of ink in the black
water.
"There isn't any. How can we find it?" Ruben muttered in a low voice. He felt that Atlas was a charlatan
who had come to his house to rip them off.
Suddenly, Atlas's gaze settled on the jade Kṣitigarbha statue in the Buddhist niche.
"Found it!"
Atlas walked over quickly and looked closely at the Kṣitigarbha statue.
"This is the source of Foul Energy."
Ronald wondered, "This is Kṣitigarbha. How can it be the source of Foul Energy?"
"That's right. I think he's just here to swindle us out of money." Ruben rushed to say.
Atlas was calm as he asked in reply, "Where does Kṣitigarbha live?"
Ronald was stunned and he exclaimed, "I see!"
Atlas said, "And this Kṣitigarbha has a deep resentment. If I am correct, the previous owner of this
statue should have died of depression."
Ronald looked in awe, "Doctor, your guess is right. I bought this statue from an auction at a great price.
Its previous owner was a down-and-out scholar."
"Although that scholar was talented, at that time, when traitorous officials were in power, the future of
scholars were rendered dismal. That scholar never made it in his life, so he left behind an extremely
deep resentment."
Atlas nodded, "That's right. The resentment builds up and eventually becomes Foul Energy, and
anyone who is near it for a long time will be consumed by Foul Energy!"
"At first, you'll feel agitated, but when it gets bad, you'll go crazy and bite anyone you see!"
Ronald said, "I'll get someone to bury it far away."
Atlas raised his hand and stopped, "Give it to me, as payment."
"Well... you're not afraid of being infested with Foul Energy?"
Atlas smiled lightly, revealing utmost confidence, "Foul Energy can't hurt me!"
"Since you want it, then I will give it to you. But I won't reduce any of the rewards I've promised you!"
Ronald was smart. He thought that Atlas was not an ordinary person, but perhaps a disciple of a great
man. He could not be wrong to befriend him in advance.
Ruben, with a puzzled look on his face, turned to Laura at his side and asked in a low voice, "Mum,
what do they mean by ‘where does kṣitigarbha live?’"
