CHAPTER 35
CHAPTER 35
Chapter 35 “Your Mom paid me to do it No matter how hard he tried to get those words off his head, they kept haunting him like a nightmare. Why would she do that to him? Why would she go that far to torture him? How could she be fine all these years seeing him in pain? For a moment, Xander was starting to doubt that woman being his Mom. ‘No Mom would ever do that to their child’ He told himself as he drove down the road. “I want to be left alone’ He had said to Mi ck earlier before he left Spencer’s house and drove alone even though he knew it was dangerous as he was not in his right state of mind. “She is not good for you, Xander. I don’t trust that girl!” His parents had said those words to him when he wanted to marry Summer. They were strongly against the relationship, but he fought for his love for her. It couldn’t be anyone else if it was not her, but then, little did he know that his Mom was going to go this extreme.. A drop of tears slid down the corner of his cheek as he pulled over at the side of the road. His hands trembled, unable to hold the steering wheel any longer. His heart wrenched painfully that he could barely breathe. “Why, Mom? Why did you do that?” He whimpered as he dropped his head on the steering wheel “What do I do?” His voice came out teary and weakly as he stared out of the window, regretting all of his actions. If he had listened to her that night, things wouldn’t have gotten to this extent. “F u ck!” He cursed out loudly as he slammed his hand on the steering wheel, causing the car to h o nk. “Dad… He must know about this’ With that in mind, he started the car and drove off. Xander drove recklessly down the road minutes later, violating traffic rules even though it was dangerous and could get him into trouble. Xander’s Dad was just stepping out of the house by the time Xander drove in, so he pulled over roughly before the parking lot, stepped out of the car, and sauntered toward his Dad. Ito…”
“Xander… You are here? I was about to call you t “Why did you do it, Dad? Why did you and Mom ruin my life?” Xander burst into tears as he grabbed his Dad’s suit. Spencer didn’t mention that this man knew about what happened, but he wasn’t so st upid not to know that his Mom couldn’t have pulled that off all by herself. His Dad must’ve supported her. No way he had no idea about this. “Hey! Are you crazy? What are you doing?” Mr. Hughes yanked his hands off his shirt furiously. “What has come over you, Xander? Are you drunk?” Mr. Hughes fumed in anger, glaring hard at him. *Yes, Dad… I am f uc king crazy. I’ve lost it! How could you do this to me? How could you and Mom do this?” Xander’s voice broke as more tears streamed down his cheeks. As much as the betrayal really hurt, it didn’t hurt as much as knowing it came from the two people who were supposed to protect his happiness at all cost. “It’s s your responsibility to make me happy and protect my happiness… You are Mom. How could you destroy it instead?” He yelled at the top of his voice. “What the f u ck are you ranting about?” “Don’t even pretend not to know what I’m talking about…” “Can you f uc king say something and stop being dramatic, young man? I don’t have all the time in the f uc king world, so say something!” Mr. Hughes Chapter 35 scolded him. “You knew… Mom paid the doctor to deceive me that I was sterile, right?” Mr. Hughes’s face slowly went pale with shock. For the next few seconds, he stared back at his son wordlessly. “What? You are going to pretend?” Xander scoffed as he briefly ran his fingers through his hair. “I know you never liked Summer… You two weren’t in support of our relationship, but how could you do this to– What the f u ck are you ranting about, Xander?” Confusion was written all over the man’s face as he
stared at his son’s face as though the answer to his question was written on his face. Yes, he wasn’t in support of their relationship, but deep inside him, he had already accepted her into the family when he saw that Xander really loved her. “I’m telling you that your wife f uc king paid the doctor to deceive me. I was never sterile. Summer never f uc king cheated on met it was all you two fault. You-” “Felicia!” Mr. Hughes slowly clenched his fingers into a tight fist and gritted his teeth as he stared into space. Xander’s eyebrows squinted slowly as the realization dawned on him that his Dad knew nothing about it and was just finding out for the first time just like himself too. “Son…. Calm down, Ok? We will sort this out. I promise, we will sort this out together, trust me,” He reached for Xander’s hand and pulled him into his arms for a warm embrace. “I’m sorry you| you had to go through this–” Xander cried on his Dad’s shoulder. This passionate hug was something he really needed, and he couldn’t be less happy that his Dad was there for him At the hospital minutes later… Xander tried to hold back his tears as he stood in front of the transparent door to the ward where his Mom was. He watched her smiling at Lisa who was seated on the chair beside the bed. The only thing he wanted at that moment was to go inside and confront her for doing that to him, but on second thought, he knew that wasn’t the best decision especially when she was still sick. “Stay calm, Xander. Don’t do anything st u pid and just pretend everything is fine,” He whispered to himself as he took a deep breath. “You can handle this, Xander. You can,” He pushed the door open and walked inside with a small forced smile on his face. “My baby is here. Come here, darling. I’ve missed you so much,” The old lady in her fifties extended her hand to Xander who walked over to her and sat beside her on the bed. “You must’ve really been so worried about me. I’m sorry, son,” Tears dropped down her cheeks as
she pulled him into her arms and hugged her tightly. You need to get some rest, Mom. You are yet to recover,” He pulled away from her and forced a smile briefly, but sadly, he could only keep up with it for seconds before it disappeared. “You’re good? You don’t look fine,” Lisa spoke up for the first time after observing him since he went inside. “Baby, are you okay? Did something happen? What is your sister talking about? Are you sick? Do you want me to call the doctor?” His Mom held his face worriedly, her pair of ocean blue eyes staring into his passionately. How could a woman who cared this much about him tamper with his happiness? How could she ruin his life to this extent when she was acting all loving around him? As much as he wanted to think she was knew that her love for him was genuine. Doubting her love for him was something that should never cross his mind. “Hmm. I’m fine. I’m just tired from work,” He gently held her hand and removed it from his cheek. pretending, him of all people 2/3 “You should get some rest, Mom, I will come back later or tomorrow,” He forced a smile at her once more before he stood up. “You are not going to spend time with me, son?” She asked disappointedly, looking up at him. “Lisa… Take care of Mom, and call me if you need anything,” Without sparing his Mom another glance, he advanced toward the door and stepped out of All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
