Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 912: The Double Reversal

Boris sipped his tea, feigning calm. He had roped in a scapegoat, and if he hadn't handed her the recording equipment back then, she probably wouldn't have made it to this point.

"Yes, that's exactly my plan. Since you've already decided, I'll take you to a place where we can get the video ready today. By tomorrow, Alina and Ruud's wedding will be completely ruined!" Boris declared confidently. River nodded, grabbed her bag, and followed him. She was eager to see her plan come to fruition.

What she didn't know was that her every move was being broadcast live to a national audience. Meanwhile, Tina was moderating the live stream, carefully scrubbing out any details that might reveal Boris's identity. The goal was to ensure the broadcast served both their agendas.

Boris opened the car door and drove River to a remote village.

The countryside was desolate. Dry, cracked soil stretched ahead, overgrown with wild grass that swayed gently in the breeze.

River glanced around with disdain, furrowing her brows. "Can someone capable of producing such flawless, undetectable videos really live in a place like this?"

Boris was caught off guard by the question. It reminded him of the time he went to meet the woman in red, who lived deep in an isolated forest.

He suppressed his irritation and answered, "Maybe. People who create these kinds of videos aren't exactly dealing with the truth. They're bound to have enemies, so living in a secluded place makes perfect sense."

River nodded, finding his explanation somewhat reasonable.

They arrived at a small, solitary house. Photos hung on a line by the door, fluttering in the breeze.

When River was about to step inside, Boris stopped her. "He only agreed to meet with me. I'll go in alone."

River frowned. "What difference does it make if there's one more person?"

She lifted her foot, prepared to enter.

Boris grabbed her arm in a hurry. "These kinds of people are eccentric. If he gets upset about you being here, the deal's off, and all our efforts will be wasted!"

River found Boris's behavior strange, but his reasoning was sound, leaving her with no grounds to argue.

Seeing that the day was slipping away and reluctant to linger in such an isolated area, she handed him the original recordings and videos from her bag. "Here are the originals. Take them and make sure the outcome is something Alina can't recover from. No one should be able to protect her."

Boris nodded. "Don't worry. I won't let you down."

He lied with a calm expression, showing no trace of guilt.

Inside the house, Boris let out a deep breath, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. He placed the recordings and videos on the table before Tina.

The moment Boris entered, the live stream ended abruptly.

Tina reclined lazily in her chair, her long legs casually crossed, eyes closed as if she were napping.

When she opened her eyes, Boris was standing nervously nearby. Meeting Tina's cold, detached gaze, he couldn't stop himself from shivering. "I've brought what you asked for. Can I leave now?"

Ruud had instructed him to retrieve the original recordings. That task now rested with Tina.

Boris hadn't wanted to comply with Tina's orders, but knowing Ruud's ruthless methods, he had no choice. For now, he needed to stay in the good graces of the Pace family.

Tina glanced at her watch. Before ten o'clock, she carefully reviewed the recordings and videos. Once satisfied, she forwarded them to Alina for confirmation.

After receiving Alina's approval, Tina waved her hand dismissively, signaling Boris that he could leave.

Boris felt a wave of relief, as though he had narrowly escaped death. Being in Tina's presence was suffocating; he didn't even dare to breathe too loudly. Just as he was about to step out the door, Tina's icy voice stopped him. "Uncle Boris, a word of advice: the more you walk in the dark, the more likely you are to run into ghosts."

She had long gathered evidence of Boris's misdeeds. The only reason she hadn't acted yet was because of his ties to the Pace family.

More importantly, she needed Boris to lead her to Claudia. For now, she would let him be.

If Boris turned over a new leaf, she might spare him for Warren's sake. But if he continued down his path, he would have no one to blame but himself.

Standing with his back to Tina, Boris's expression darkened, his black eyes glinting with hatred.

Rachel had been ruined by Tina and Alina. He wouldn't let it go.

This time, he had underestimated them and ignored the warnings he'd received. Otherwise, he wouldn't have fallen into their hands.

He opened the door to the small house and closed it gently behind him.

Outside, River waited anxiously. Seeing him emerge, she asked with excitement, "How did it go? Is the video ready? Will Ruud and Alina's wedding be ruined tomorrow?"

Boris looked at her with an unreadable expression. His face, however, could be summed up in two words: foolish woman.

River felt a sudden sense of unease and instinctively stepped back.

Still, she reached forward and grabbed Boris's sleeve. "The original recordings and videos-shouldn't you give them back to me?" she asked nervously.

Boris shook her hand off, his face twisted with disdain. He let out a cold laugh, turned, and walked away.

He got into his car, started the engine, and sped off, kicking up a cloud of dust.

River coughed violently, stunned. He had just left her behind in this desolate village.

Panic set in as she realized what had happened. She rushed to the small house and pushed the door open.

The room was empty, except for a computer playing a live broadcast of her and Boris conspiring together. Every word, every scheme, was on display. River finally understood-she had been played by Boris.

Her hands trembled uncontrollably, her eyes bloodshot and her body shaking. She tasted blood in her mouth as rage consumed her.

She tried to destroy the computer, smashing at it with her hands, but the device remained intact.

Frantically, she searched the room for something heavy, but the house was bare. There wasn't even a single stone to be found.noveldrama

The broadcast continued, showing her vile and incriminating actions to the world.

Unable to take it anymore, River tried to leave, but the door wouldn't budge. No matter how hard she pulled or pushed, it stayed locked.

She collapsed to the floor, clutching her head in despair. Her mind teetered on the edge of collapse.

She pulled out her phone to call for help, only to discover there was no signal.

Her gaze turned hollow and wild, her bloodshot eyes fixed on the live broadcast. In desperation, she used her arms to hammer at the computer, trying to stop the playback. Tina, having obtained the evidence, had released the complete video. The broadcast began from the moment River started recording until the very end.
