“Oh, how did things get this intense?” Anthony paced back and forth in the safe house, looking like an anxious wreck.

“Yeah, how many people did Tanner send to kill us?”

“Is this even necessary? D*mn it…”

As the battle outside raged on, more and more representatives grew restless, their fear mounting by the second.

“Huh, aren’t any of you mentally prepared for this?”

Oddly enough, the calmest person in the room was none other than Jidrus, the man with nothing to his name. With his hands clasped behind his back, he spoke steadily, “If this were just about money, Teddy wouldn’t be going all out like this. But this election threatens the very foundation of his power and the forces behind him. Of course, he’ll do everything he can to stop it from happening! So don’t be too surprised by what’s happening tonight.”

That was easy to say–but who wouldn’t be shocked?

After all, every single one of them only had one life to lose. Not everyone was as fearless as Jidrus, ready to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.

“Wait… where’s Mr. Willy?”

Someone suddenly realized that Ken, the head of the West End Chamber of Commerce, was nowhere to be

seen.

“Sh*t, that two–faced snake didn’t just ditch us again, did he?”

“You think he set this up?”

“Maybe he’s still working for Tanner, just looking out for himself!”

As the accusations started flying, the door suddenly swung open, and in walked Ken himself.

“Who the hell said I sold you out?” Ken immediately snapped at them. “D*mn it, if I wanted to betray you, ‘why hadn’t I just done it back on the mountain road? Why the hell would I go through the trouble of

bringing you all to my house first? Do you think fixing this mansion is free?!”

Well… he had a point.

The representatives looked at one another awkwardly, suddenly unsure of what to say. But before they could react, a loud commotion erupted outside the safe house.

“Crap! It sounds like the enemy is breaking in!”

The representatives immediately panicked. But no one was more terrified than Ken. Even an idiot could tell that Teddy’s top priority would be eliminating the traitor–him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunfire grew louder, bullets peppering the outer walls of the safe house.

“What? The enemy actually broke in?!” Ken shricked in terror. “Aren’t you guys the Wolf Warrior Unit? Aren’t you supposed to be the strongest squad in Chanaca?!”

“Cut the crap! If you want to live, then move!” Ironskull barked. “Only two people broke in–Aora and Azure. But without Rhett here, no one can hold their own against Aora!”

Upon hearing Aora’s name, Ken turned and ran as fast as his legs could carry him.

The other representatives saw him bolting and immediately followed suit, scrambling for the back exit.

“Ken Willy, you traitorous b*stard! You won’t escape!”

Aora’s enraged voice rang out from outside the building.

They hadn’t expected these fools to be dumb enough to take off from Ken’s estate to fly to Zovince. But that only made their job easier.

Now, they had a chance to wipe them all out in one fell swoop.

Aora’s eyes burned red–redder than the fabric of his clothes.

After returning to Zovince, Teddy had berated him mercilessly. For the first time ever, he had lost Teddy’s trust. All because his mission in West End had failed spectacularly.

Mackenzie had successfully pulled the entire West End to her side, completely shifting the balance of power. And the reason for that?

Ken’s betrayal.

A nobody–a mere insect–had changed the outcome of an entire war.

If not for Ken, Mackenzie would never have dared go on the offensive. The Five Poison Sect could have. slowly worn down the Wolf Warrior Unit and eventually wiped them out.

So right now, the person Aora wanted dead the most wasn’t Mackenzie. It was Ken.

He wanted to tear Ken apart, limb by limb, as a warning to everyone in Chanaea–this was the fate of anyone who betrayed Teddy Tanner.

“Oh, hell no!”

Ken, already terrified beyond reason, heard the voice behind him and instantly collapsed onto the ground. It was as if he had just heard the Devil himself waking up from the depths of hell.

The other representatives, seeing his pathetic state, didn’t even hesitate. They ran.

There was an old saying: if two people were being chased by a tiger, they didn’t need to outrun the tiger- just each other.

Everyone in that room understood that logic perfectly. No one was stupid enough to waste time helping Ken up. If anything, the fact that he had fallen only increased their chances of survival.

“Get up and run if you want to live!”

Meanwhile, Anthony secretly snickered at Jidrus‘ foolishness. Doesn’t that idiot know that trying to help others would just get him killed?

But before anyone could escape, Azure suddenly leaped onto the rooftop.

His plan had been to cut off the representatives at the back exit. But unfortunately for him, they had already fled through the side gate at an impressive speed. All except Anthony, who had been too slow.

“Ah!”

Anthony’s hair practically stood on end as he turned to see Jidrus hauling Ken in the opposite direction.

“Die!”

With a single claw strike, Azure ended Anthony’s life in an instant. His eyes remained wide open even in death as if cursing his own misfortune.

I hadn’t run the fastest or the slowest! How did I end up as the one dead?!

Jidrus and Ken saw Anthony go down, but they had no time to mourn. They turned and ran again. But it was too late.

Aora suddenly dropped from the sky, blocking their path. His expression was twisted with rage.

“Ken Willy, you d*mn traitor! Let’s see where you run now!”

With that, he raised his palm, ready to strike Ken dead on the spot. But just as the attack was about to land…

Bam!

Quintus came crashing down from above, meeting Aora’s strike with a punch of his own.

The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward.

Both men staggered back, neither gaining the upper hand.

The sheer force of their clash sent Jidrus and Ken flying in opposite directions, tumbling across the ground.

Quintus clenched his fist, shaking out the numbness.

“Sh*t, you pack quite a punch,” he muttered, rolling his shoulder to shake off the stiffness.

Now he really had to wonder–what the hell had Rhett gone through when he fought this guy before?

For all his hatred, Quintus had to admit–Aora was strong.

But Aora had no interest in exchanging words. Without hesitation, he ripped a hardened button off his coat and flicked it like a throwing weapon.

With a sickening thud, Ken’s skull split open. He dropped to the ground, dead on impact, his eyes still wide

with shock.

“Willy! D*mn it, Ken!” Jidrus let out a heart–wrenching cry. But it wasn’t out of sorrow for Ken’s death. It was for Mackenzie. For the future of West End.
