Love on the Fast Track

Chapter 1369

Chapter 1369:

She had never expected that her brother had feelings for Norah, having previously believed his feigned interest in Kathy.

She wondered about the current state of the Carter family. The last she heard, Madeline and Derek had divorced, with Derek walking away with nothing. And Marlene had moved into the Carter residence. Joanna scoffed at the thought.

During her studies, Marlene had supported herself as a lover—a testament to her time management skills.

Dismissing these distractions, Joanna realized she needed to call Duncan to ensure he packed everything necessary.

The next morning at nine, everyone convened at Dreamview Villas. Phillip and Susanna took one car, Norah and Sean another, and Joanna and Duncan a third.

Joanna stood on tiptoe, looking back. “Let’s wait a bit longer. My brother went to pick someone up. He’s been to Dreamview Villas before. Why isn’t he here yet? He’s never on time.”

“It’s fine. A little delay doesn’t matter,” Norah said, casually leaning against the car while checking her phone for international news and updates from her mother.

Her mother had left for Surella the day after notifying them, departing so swiftly that Norah had barely had time to react. She thought it would take a few more days for her mother to set off.

She then responded to a message from Kayla. Just days ago, Kayla had performed abroad, earning cheers from the audience. Norah was sending her congratulations.

News came from the hospital. Gil’s dwindling energy necessitated the promotion of another to deputy director. This person would oversee different aspects than Gil, yet major decisions still required Norah’s preliminary approval.

Outside Dreamview Villas, Alyssa fidgeted nervously with her fingers, casting occasional covert glances at Bryson. Since her return from Sevaedda, she had gone on three setup blind dates. Among them, Bryson stood out as her favorite.

Her father had meticulously chosen these men, prioritizing their reliability to shield her from potential harm. Previously circulated rumors about Bryson had been thoroughly dispelled; he was, in fact, a stellar company manager.

Upon receiving Bryson’s invitation for a gathering teeming with guests and including his sister, Alyssa pondered for a moment before agreeing. She understood that marriage extended beyond simple companionship; it involved getting to know his family dynamics and observing his sister’s behavior.

Bryson presented himself in a manner that Alyssa found most appealing. He maintained a dignified and courteous demeanor, never stepping out of line once he knew who she was.

Alyssa saw the forthcoming trip as an opportunity to scrutinize him more closely. She aimed to settle for a partner she truly appreciated, trusting her father would back her choice.

“Bryson, can you tell me who else will be on this trip? Will it be awkward for me to join you?” Alyssa inquired, her voice laced with anxiety.

Bryson caught the nervous undertone in her voice. Looking over his glasses, he responded, “A notable person will be attending, but you shouldn’t worry. Besides us, there will be three other couples.”
