Loved You Once But He's My Forever (Chloe)

Chapter 517 Take Me With You

I couldn't control my body; an unseen force yanked me forward, my speed whipping past Carter, tousling his hair.

While everyone's attention was on Everett, Carter seemed to sense something was amiss and turned in the direction I was being pulled away.

"Chloe?"

There was no response. Everett, clearly alarmed, began searching for me immediately.

When they realized I was no longer in the room, not only Everett but even Everly started to cry.

Carter grew visibly uneasy. Something was very wrong!

He couldn't console his two children; their time together must've been so long that he could feel my presence even without seeing me. But now, he felt nothing!

He distinctly felt a draft, an impossibility in the warmth of the room. Upon feeling it, a hollowness washed over him.

"Chloe, are you still here?" He flicked a lighter, the flame's soft glow casting light over his face.

In the past, Chloe would always come to blow out the flame whenever he did this.

But tonight, she didn't. A sharp pang hit Carter's heart; he sensed it. In this vast room, Chloe was gone! "Chloe, don't scare me, where are you?"

The children's cries filled the room, and Carter, pale-faced, scanned for any trace of Chloe. Nothing. Nowhere!

Ignoring the children's wails, Carter flung open the door and bolted outside. The wind and snow howled, creating an apocalyptic scene; everything was a bleak white expanse.

"Chloe, where are you? Don't scare me!" he called out in desperation.

Damian followed him. "Mr. Carter, what's wrong?"

Carter, like a madman, sprinted into the snowy depths and stumbled, collapsing into a thick snowbank. Falling hard into the snow, he struggled to his feet, repeating his desperate plea, "Chloe, you can't be gone!"

He drove himself up, ignoring his disheveled state, and jumped into his car. Damian, filled with concern, pleaded, "Mr. Carter! Let me drive!"

But Carter wouldn't give him the chance. He sped through the storm, racing to the hospital.

Damian followed closely, horrified by the reckless speed in the treacherous weather.

Carter was terrified terrified of receiving the news that Chloe had stopped breathing.

When he finally arrived, Carter feared stepping out of the car. Damian gently opened the door. "Mr. Carter

...

Carter gripped the steering wheel, his voice barely audible. "Damian, do you think she'll be okay? I haven't heard any news from the hospital yet."

Damian tried to comfort him but

struggled with the harsh reality. "Mr. Carter," He bit his lip, unsure how to reassure him convincingly. 'll go check. Mrs. Chloe is probably just fine."

Even as he said it, Damian wasn't confident himself.

At that moment, Carter's phone rang-it was the hospital. Usually, he would answer immediately, but now his hand trembled.

"Mr. Carter, maybe I should answer

it. In case it's something important," Damian suggested softly. "If it's about Mrs. Chloe, at least you should see her one last time and not have any regrets."

Carter thought of a time when Chloe died alone in the snow, a memory that haunted him. Could he really bear to send her off himself? Or was it more cruel to let her die quietly in the hospital?

The call went unanswered, but Carter made his decision. "Let's go in and see."

Even if this was goodbye, he couldn't avoid it. He appeared to regain his composure, but as he stepped out of the car, his legs gave way, and Damian caught him.

"Mr. Carter." Damian's heart ached for him. Carter seemed strong outside, but inside, he was hollowed out.

The short walk to the hospital room felt like an eternity, and he steeled himself for the worst. The hallway was a flurry of activity with nurses and doctors rushing around.

He had braced himself for the worst news.

"Mr. Bolton, we have a serious situation." The head nurse rushed up to him.

Damian held onto him tightly, sensing Carter's body could collapse any second. Carter's eyes were

hollow, his voice hoarse. "Is my wife... Is she already ... ?"

The nurse took a deep breath. "Mrs. Bolton has suddenly disappeared!"noveldrama

Carter stared at her. "Disappeared? What do you mean?"

Not a death announcement?

"Half an hour ago, a nurse checked, everything was fine. But just now, her bed was empty. We're searching for her everywhere."

Carter and Damian exchanged a worried glance. Had Chloe woken up on her own, or had someone taken her?

He ordered quickly, "Check the surveillance!"

"Yes, Mr. Bolton. Don't worry," the nurse reassured him.

How could he? The thought of her being taken and the haunting image of Chloe's past dismemberment sent a jolt of terror through him.

Carter ran to the room, finding it empty, devoid of her presence.

"Chloe ... " Losing Chloe again and again drained his confidence; although young, his eyes aged decades

in sorrow. He was exhausted.

"If you're gone, take me with you."

As his words hung in the air, the bathroom door creaked open, and a familiar voice called out, "Carl ... "
