Chapter 21
When Dominick entered the private room, everyone was taken aback.
“What happened to you?”
Noticing the fresh blood on Dominick’s hand, Wesley immediately stood up from the sofa.
“It’s fine.”
Dominick responded casually, then walked over and sat on the sofa. He poured himself a glass of wine, drank it in one gulp, and stared into the distance, his gaze
fixed on something unknown as he exuded an air of perplexed helplessness.
Only a select few had witnessed this side of Dominick two years ago, when they received news of Lola’s death. Not even Jessica, who had married Landon, had seen this side of him before..
“I heard Lola’s back?” Wesley leaned in, clearly interested in gossip.
“Heard?” Dominick looked coldly at Wesley.
Wesley quickly raised his hands in surrender and admitted, “Okay, okay! It’s practically common knowledge in Talondria by now. You have an ex–wife called Ms. Lewis who has just reappeared. She got you to shell out billions for a cursed crown at an auction, and then announced her return to settle a
score!
Before Dominick could speak, Wesley spoke up again.
“What’s she really after? Two years ago, she caused Jessica to fall down the stairs, causing a miscarriage. That was Landon’s only bloodline in this world. You just did what you had to. Now, she’s back to settle scores, but with whom? Herself?”
This was the truth, and the truth as Dominick had always believed it to be
Yet, for some reason, hearing it now felt jarring, even irritating. A voice within pressed in, claiming that he, along with everyone else, owed Lola something.
Dominick lifted his gaze and suddenly noticed the woman sitting beside Wesley.
She was clad in a long white dress, her hair cascading down her back, radiating an air of innocence. Her features were delicate, her complexion spotless, and her eyes luminous Wesley had many women, none of whom Dominick ever remembered, but he remembered the woman who had once saved Lola.
“A new one?” Dominick cast a casual glance at the girl and asked nonchalantly.
Wesley choked on the remark, amused by the bluntness, He chuckled and pulled the woman beside him teasingly into his embrace
“How can we average Joes compete with Mr. Sinclair, who smashed 400 million dollars for a diamond to gift Ms. Moore?”
At the mention of that diamond, Dominick picked up his glass, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face as he downed his drink in one swift motion.
Lola had bought many things that night. He saw Lola arguing with Jessica over the last item and had planned to buy it as a gift for her. Unexpectedly, an accident occurred and it ended up being a crown with a curse tied to it. Dominick didn’t even know whose hands it landed in.
He never imagined that the diamond originally befonged to Lola.
“Didn’t you check the background of the people around Lola?” Wesley suddenly thought of something and asked. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Dominick rolled his eyes at Wesley, remaining’silent
Even now, he was in the dark about Ethan’s identity and his connection to Lola. Besides her occasional visits to the Horizon Group, Lola rarely stepped outside, and Ethan almost never left the House. Their only tangible link was the Horizon Group, an enigmatic enterprise with a mind–blowing registered
capital of over 20 billion.
After drinking for a while, Dominick and Wesley left the private room together.
Meanwhile, the door of the opposite private room swung open from the inside. At that moment, as four eyes met, Wesley let out a light chuckle, his tone tinged with a hint of disdain.
“What do we have here? Ms. Collins out hunting again?”
Ellie, garbed in a sleek, dark–colored men’s suit, appeared equally taken aback to run into Wesley. She paused briefly, her gaze sweeping over the girl Wesley was embracing, then looked away.
“Do you know him?”
A gentle and refined man stood beside Ellie, his arm protectively behind her. Hearing the question, he looked down at the woman in his arms.
“No.”
Ellie offered a faint smile, allowing the man to lead her down the corridor.
s they passed by Dominick, the man paused slightly. He didn’t look at Wesley but gave Dominick a subtle nod, to which Dominick responded with a nod

in kind.
The sight of Ellie completely ignoring him made Wesley’s eyes dim. He suddenly tightened his arm around the woman’s waist, causing her to cry out in surprise. Wesley quickly realized what he just done and lifted the woman’s chin to plant a kiss on her lips.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong? We’re not even in bed yet and you’re already making noises!”
“Knock it off!” The woman playfully hit him, her cheeks flushing
Her coy demeanor seemed to greatly please Wesley. He smiled and kissed her hand. Although he was flirting with her, his gaze remained fixed on the woman walking a short distance away. When Wesley noticed Ellie stopping, his arm around the woman’s waist tightened once again,
The next second, Ellie suddenly turned around and looked toward them.
Her gaze slid over Wesley, lingering for just a moment before focusing on Dominick. She hesitated, then said, “Mr. Sinclair, I’ve heard that Lola’s back.”
“And why does that concern you?” Dominick was about to respond when Wesley cut in, his brow furrowed.
Ellie ignored Wesley, her attention fixed on Dominick “There’s something I know about your ex– wife, Mr. Sinclair. I’m not sure if I should tell you, but…do you want to hear it?”
In the dim and quiet private room, Dominick lounged on the sofa, lighting a cigarette. He took a drag, then coolly lifted his gaze to the woman standing before him. “What do you want to tell me?”
Ellie hesitated, seemingly uncertain of how to begin. After a pause, she met the cold, detached stare of the man before her.
“That incident two years ago… How much of it do you remember, Mr. Sinclair?”
“Two years ago!”
It seemed that every conversation he had inevitably circled back to that period two years ago, so much so that he almost believed his life was frozen in those memories.
“What exactly are you trying to say?” Dominick’asked coldly, his tone tinged with impatience”
Ellie eyed the man before her, unsure if it was her place to speak, but went ahead anyway. “Two years back, Ms. Moore had a miscarriage and was hospitalized, and you stayed by her side day and night. At that time, Wesley and I saw your wife, who had collapsed outside the Carlton Restaurant

Dominick slightly furrowed his brows, a hint of impatience in his expression. He couldn’t pinpoint when it began, but the mention of Lola and Jessica in the same breath had become increasingly irksome to him.
Seeing Dominick’s frown, Ellie suddenly regretted meddling. Nevertheless, she steeled herself and spoke up.
“Your
wife hadn’t suffered from a heatstroke. In actual fact, her wound had become infected!”
