Chapter 3527 The First Match
When Matthew reached the elevator, the guards looked at him with slight confusion.
Hadn't this guy just got here not long ago? Why is he back already?
"The three of you-which floor?"
"Third floor."
"Nine thousand Dornia Emeralds."
Matthew nodded, took out a stack of Dornia Emeralds, and handed it over. "Here's ten thousand. Keep the extra."
The guard glanced casually at the money before a faint smile appeared on his face. "Much appreciated. Go on up."
After stepping into the elevator, Matthew pressed the button for the third floor.
"Sir, I still haven't asked for your name," Olexar said, breaking the silence.
"Matteo Larden. Your sister calls me Matteo."
"Alright, Mr. Larden." Although Matthew had implied that there was no need for formalities, Olexar still added "Mister" out of respect.
As the elevator ascended, Matthew returned to the bar counter on the third floor. "Two rooms and two meals-the best you've got."
The bartender glanced at the two dirty individuals standing beside Matthew, a flicker of doubt in his eyes. Still, he maintained his professional demeanor. "How many days do you need the rooms and meals for?"noveldrama
Matthew thought for a moment. "Three days."
"That'll be ten thousand Dornia Emeralds."
Once again, Matthew placed a stack of Dornia Emeralds on the countertop.
"Thank you for your patronage." The bartender's expression softened into a slight smile as he retrieved two room cards from beneath the counter and handed them to Matthew. "Rooms 33 and 34. Meals will be delivered three times @ day-morning, noon, and night. If you get hungry in between, press the red button in your room."
Matthew took the room cards and passed them both to Olexar. He figured the little girl likely wouldn't know how to use them, so it made sense to let Olexar explain it to her later.
"Go get some rest. If anything comes up, I'll come to you. And remember-lock the door from the inside. Stay alert."
The incident with those two men had made Matthew cautious. Even in this lodging area, there were still rats who could sneak in unnoticed-or perhaps were even allowed in.
"Alright, Mr. Larden, don't worry." Olexar nodded, signaling that they would be fine.
The three of them went to their respective rooms, and the night passed uneventfully.
The next morning, outside Matthew's door-
"Matteo! You up yet, Matteo?" Garrett called lazily from the hallway. "Hurry up and eat. The first match is about to start."
The door opened slowly, revealing Matthew dressed in white.
Garrett gestured to the small food cart behind him. "Go on, eat up. The match is starting soon."
Matthew nodded, grabbed a breakfast portion, and ate quickly. After finishing, he and Garrett made their way toward the elevator.
"Where is he?" Matthew asked as they walked. The absence of Lenny, who usually stuck close to Garrett, hadn't gone unnoticed.
"I sent him to take care of
something-you don't need to worry about it." Garrett waved the question aside. "Now, let me tell you about your first opponent. I've got a feeling you'll beat him easily, but it's always best to be prepared." Garrett glanced over at Matthew, his tone growing more serious.
"Panzin-the Bonebreaker. This guy's got enormous strength and wears an iron gauntlet on his fist. he hits you, best-case scenario, you'll be coughing up blood. Worst case you won't get up at all
