Chapter 150
Jeffrey challenged, “Do you want to become insolvent and end up in prison?”
Tessa looked uncertain. After much hesitation, she gritted her teeth and said, “Fine, I’ll be the witness.”
Matthew had been sitting quietly and observing from the side. Hearing Tessa agree, his eyes turned even colder.
The door was kicked open with a bang just then, and a dozen burly men stormed in.
The leader of the group approached Jeffrey and asked, “Mr. Smith, who do you want us to kill?”
Jeffrey pointed at Matthew. “First, break his limbs, then kill him! Only then will I be appeased.”
The man, brandishing a knife, walked toward Matthew–but suddenly stopped in his tracks.
He stared at Matthew in shock, not knowing what to do.
Jeffrey was waiting to see Matthew scream in pain. Seeing his lackey not taking action, he angrily shouted, “Why the hell are you not moving?”
Ivan stared at Matthew, his face as pale as a ghost.
Unable to contact the other members of the Red Wolves, he had been looking for a new boss to make money. Someone introduced him to Jeffrey’s men along the way, saying there were some lucrative illegal jobs for the taking.
This kind of thing was not new to him, so he agreed without hesitation.
The task that day was a chance to prove himself and show his loyalty. Only, he didn’t expect the target to be Matthew.
He was someone Ivan dared not touch.
Seeing Ivan stand rooted in place, Jeffrey scolded furiously, “You piece of shit! Are you chickening out? Get him!”
Ivan’s forehead was drenched in sweat. He wanted to leave but was afraid of offending the Smith family. He was essentially stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Matthew glared coldly at Ivan. “You want to kill me?” His voice was soft but carried an intimidating force.
Ivan trembled. “No, I dare not. I’d rather die than do that.”
He knew that he was no match for Matthew, even with the help of the dozen men he came with.
Matthew pointed at Jeffrey and instructed, “Beat him up. Keep going until I tell you to stop, or else you’ll be the one dead at my hands!”
Recalling Vincent’s gruesome death, Ivan instantly broke out in cold sweat. He knew that Matthew was serious about killing him. Although he couldn’t afford to offend Jeffrey, he had to ensure his own survival first.
Ivan turned around and raised his knife as he slowly approached Jeffrey. “Mr. Smith, don’t hold it against me. I’m being forced to do this.”
Jeffrey was stunned. “Y–You want to attack me? Are you tired of living?”
Ivan stood before Jeffrey and responded, “I want to live, so I have no choice but to do this! I’m sorry!” Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
With that, he kicked Jeffrey.
The kick sent Jeffrey, along with his chair, tumbling to the ground. The glass In his hand shattered, spilling wine everywhere and causing a huge mess on the floor.
Tessa covered her mouth as she stared in disbelief.
The killers sent by Jeffrey didn’t dare kill Matthew. Instead, they turned on Jeffrey.
How could this be? When did Matthew gain such power?
After kicking Jeffrey, Ivan turned to Matthew and asked, “Is that enough?”
Matthew coldly replied, “Keep going until I say so.”
Ivan almost cried upon hearing this. He couldn’t disobey Matthew, but each strike would only bring him more trouble.
He had no choice but to grit his teeth and continue kicking Jeffrey.
Jeffrey screamed in pain, “Fuck! How dare you hit me? Do you want to die? My arm hurts! Stop right now, or I’ll kill you!”
.
Ivan had been holding back, but he lost his patience when Jeffrey scolded him. Gritting his teeth, he kicked harder.
Shrill screams filled the room, piercing everyone’s ears.
The door was slammed open once again, and a woman stormed in. “Who’s causing trouble in my bar?”
