Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 811

During the day, Selena put on a brave face to keep everyone from worrying about her. But bottling up her emotions only made things worse, offering no real relief. Deep down, she knew that the only way to heal was to confront her own pain.

Selena was stuck in an emotional rut, unable to find a way out no matter how hard she tried. Dr. Stone once advised her that if being with Everett was just a cycle of mutual suffering, it might be best to take a break. So, she did just that.

She told Everett to see other people. And from that day on, he never returned. Rumors were flying everywhere. Word had it that Everett was now smitten with a younger woman, spoiling her rotten and even making her an ambassador for a Bennett Corporation mall. He was the talk of the town, up to his old tricks again. Even though she was the one who suggested the break, the news felt like a thousand ants gnawing at her heart, leaving her breathless. She was a wreck. Her emotions were all over the place. She tried not to care, but every night, the gossip and the images she conjured in her mind tormented her endlessly. There was no escape.

Dr. Stone's hypnosis sessions were her only refuge. Desperate for a break from reality and a good night's sleep, Selena turned to him for help. It wasn't a permanent fix, but it was better than living in constant agony.

Under hypnosis, she managed to sleep an entire afternoon on the recliner in his office. When she woke up, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders. She thanked Dr. Stone with a grateful smile. With a resigned sigh, he prescribed her stronger meds and gave her a slew of instructions. Selena nodded, got up, and left his office.

Unbeknownst to her, shortly after she left, Joy, sporting a pair of sunglasses, walked into Dr. Stone's office and took a seat across from him. She took off her sunglasses and got straight to the point, "What's Selena being treated for here?"

Decked out in jewels and designer clothes, it was clear Joy was someone who wasn't used to hearing no. Dr. Stone shook his head, "Ms. Joy, I'm bound by confidentiality. I can't disclose a patient's condition."

Joy smirked, "Everything has a price. Name yours."

Dr. Stone pressed his lips together, clearly not amused. With a flick of disdain, Joy pulled out her

checkbook and wrote a check for

five million dollars. Still, Dr. Stonet

said nothing. Joy upped the ante to ten million. His eyes flickered ever so slightly. Joy tore off the check with a smile and slid it across the table. "Tell me everything about Selena."

Half an hour later, Joy emerged from the office and gestured for her assistant. Mr.

Wu stepped forward, "Miss, what do you need?"noveldrama

Joy leaned in and whispered a few instructions into his ear.

...

Three days later, the Newport

Business Association was throwing its 50th Anniversary Gala, and all the bigwigs from major corporations were on the guest list. Selena received an invitation, too. Im Newport's business circles, you couldn't afford to snub such an event. So, despite feeling under the weather, Selena dolled herself up for the evening.

By 8 PM, her car pulled up to the entrance of Newport's top hotel. Just as she was about to step out a sleek stretch limo glided up beside her. The door swung open, and out stepped a dashing man anda stunning woman, looking every bit like they'd just walked off the pages of a fairy tale.
