Selena didn't need to turn around to know who it was; she kept walking like she hadn't heard a thing. But of course, Joy wasn't going to let her off that easily.

Joy, strutting in her high heels, quickly caught up and blocked Selena's path. She took one look at Selena's pale face and reddened eyes and felt a wave of satisfaction. But when her eyes drifted to the telltale marks on Selena's neck, a sharp pang of jealousy hit her.

Joy couldn't wrap her head around it. After everything, with Everett and Selena practically at each other's throats and him having other women on the side, why was he still so interested in Selena? If Everett really had such insatiable desires, why hadn't he ever turned to her? She was sure she was as good as any woman out there.

Even though Joy tried to mask her feelings, Selena could see right through her. Love and jealousy have a way of showing no matter how hard you try to hide them, especially for someone like Joy, whose obsessive, unreturned love bordered on madness.

Selena gave her a faint smile. "Joy, what about you? After all this scheming, did you get what you wanted?"

Joy was momentarily at a loss for words.

"In your mission to tear Everett and me apart, you let Breanne, who looks just like me, cozy up to him, even let her into his bed. And the kicker? He accepted Breanne, but he hasn't laid a finger on you."

Selena spoke calmly, not rushing, while Joy's anger slowly bubbled up. She knew exactly where to hit Joy where it hurt.

Joy, ever the proud one, wouldn't let herself be the butt of the joke. With a cold sneer, she shot back, "Selena, I've told you before, I don't care how many women Everett has on the side. In the end, I'm going to be Mrs. Bennett. As for Breanne, please, I could crush her like a bug. Do you really think she threatens me?"

"Did you snoop into my medical records? Found out my depression's back?"

She had struggled with depression before, back when they were friends, and Joy knew all about it.
