Chapter 50 Trickery
Blanca scratched her head, a little exasperated and a little disappointed. It was just boring getting stuck up at home every day. Still, Matthew’s considerations made sense. She was Mr. Grant’s woman, and who would dare hire her?
As she pondered, Matthew had already dived into his work, so she could only just keep lazing around on the sofa, staring off into space.
Matthew was a workaholic, and it was like a do-not-disturb sign had been placed around him. His whole body seemed surrounded by a halo, and it was hard to look away.
Blanca propped up her cheek and stared, then found that Matthew’s workload was ridiculously large!
Lisa came in and gave several progress reports. Blanca was a bit bored and followed Lisa out to catch some fresh air. Seeing how bored she was, Lisa chuckled, ‘Ma’am, there’s a console in the lounge. You can play around in there.”
“No no, I’m not interested in video games.”
Blanca waved it off hastily.
Lisa nodded and looked Blanca up and down.
She was dressed in a ladylike fashion today, but looking at the clothes she wore, they were cheap. Was it that… she didn’t like expensive clothes or jewelry, or that the chairman just didn’t even like her as much as he showed?
“I’ve got some magazines here, ma’am, and some clothes and jewelry that the PR team took over. If you’re bored, how about you come with me to take a look?” Lisa suggested. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“Sure.” There was nothing to do anyway, and girls all liked shiny stuff. Blanca was no exception!
She didn’t see the irony that flashed across Lisa’s eyes, though.
Whether she was Cinderella or something else… it only took a test.
Seeing Blanca walk forward completely unguarded, Lisa followed up as well, producing her phone. “Mary, didn’t the PR department send over some samples? Organize them and take them out. Mrs. Chairman and I are coming over to inspect it.”
Blanca followed curiously behind Lisa, asking her all sorts of questions.
She was a good kid and interested in all sorts of subjects.
“Other brands send us these samples. Normally, they have to pass an inspector’s personal check before they get taken into the factories and added to the style collection. The Empire Group has enterprises in the real estate industry, the film industry, and all sorts of fashion brands. Internet businesses and e-businesses developed in recent years have also been booming.”
Lisa explained, and Blanca nodded as if she understood.
All she really knew was that Matthew was busy every day. As for what he was busy with, she had no idea. The two reached a corner as they spoke. The room in front seemed large. The door was open, and Lisa invited her in with a gesture.
Blanca led the way in and saw several workers buzzing about like bees at work. The room was about a hundred square meters. A broad range of garments hung from the shelves on the walls, all kept in see-through bags, probably to keep dust out. All sorts of jewelry had also been arranged on the shelves. There were earrings and bracelets and scarves for girls, and neckties and watches for men.
“There’s five interconnected rooms in here, ma’am. Usually, we get samples from one brand every week. Let’s check them over.”
