Chapter 90 A Trap
“Oh, of course. We’ll definitely join you for dinner tonight!”
Frank was getting carried away. He was pleased to see Fabian groveling at his feet.
Deep down, Christopher felt helpless. If he wasn’t around, his in-laws would fall for Fabian’s traps
easily.
“All right, then. I shall take my leave now.” Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Having completed his mission, Fabian turned and left Frank’s house. Back in the car, Fabio asked
earnestly, “Dad, how did it go?”
“Ha! Frank must’ve been waiting for this day to arrive. I shall allow him to gloat for now. We can take
action when he lowers his guard,” Fabian responded, his voice dripping with disdain.
“What about Christopher, Dad?” Fabio reminded him in a low voice.
“Christopher? Ha! He’s just another ordinary person who can fight well. If the authorities weren’t taking
severe measures against illegal and criminal activities in Jadeborough, I would’ve taught him a lesson,”
Fabian sneered.
“Dad, you’re amazing! I despise Christopher immensely now!”
Fabio didn’t bother hiding his hatred for Christopher.
“We need to consider the long-term future. Christopher is an ordinary person, so there’s no need for us
to fear him. He’ll get the punishment he deserves after we get the land,” Fabian said with disdain.
“Yes, that’s right!” Fabio agreed.
Frank couldn’t hide his delight back home. Cindy was also cackling in joy. They had been bullied by
Fabian for years, and now the tables had finally turned.
Julianna said disapprovingly, “Dad, you were too hasty to accept his invitation. Uncle Fabian doesn’t
look like someone who’d cave in easily. What if it’s a trap?”
“A trap? Nonsense. We’re going to be working with Centurion Corporation, so Fabian wants to butter
me up. It’s time for us to hold our heads up after living in his shadow for years!” Frank exclaimed.
His ego was practically going through the roof. He had promptly forgotten about his previous suffering.
Julianna tugged on Christopher’s sleeves anxiously. “Christopher, talk some sense into Dad.”
“What for? He’s just a commoner who knows nothing. Am I lowlier than him? This is my house. I’m the
head of the family!” Frank declared loudly as his expression turned dark.
Christopher wasn’t about to say anything to stop his foolish father-in-law.
However, he was curious as to what Fabian had in mind. “We can attend dinner to find out what he’s
after. It will be fine as long as we are careful enough.”
Frank let out an icy snort. “I’m glad you know your place.” His voice was practically dripping with
sarcasm.
Seven o’clock soon arrived. As night fell, the city lights lit up one by one.
Christopher tagged along with Frank and the rest to Globetrotter Lake. Julianna held Erisa’s hand and
stared at Globetrotter Winery ahead. She couldn’t help but recall the night when Christopher had pulled
out a VIP black card.
Tonight, their family was having dinner at Gold River Hotel. After entering a private room, Christopher
saw a fashionably dressed woman accompanied by a young man clad in a military uniform with his hair
slicked back.
Christopher had never seen the woman before. However, as she resembled Fabian, he guessed she
was Fabian’s daughter, Scarlett Murray.
The young man standing beside her should be her boyfriend.
“Uncle Frank, I didn’t expect you to be this early. My dad and the rest are still on their way. Let me
introduce you to my boyfriend, Douglas Jefferson,” Scarlett said smugly while shooting Julianna a look.
Julianna was known for her pretty looks since young. Whenever the Murray family was mentioned,
everyone would definitely talk about Julianna. Back when Julianna was jilted at the altar, Scarlett had
barely hidden her excitement.
Later, when Christopher came back and was rumored to be an ordinary person, Scarlett scoffed in
disdain upon learning about the news.
Right now, she felt a sense of superior over the rest.
After all, Douglas was obviously better than Christopher in every aspect.
After Scarlett made the introductions, Douglas was about to shake Christopher’s hand when she said,
“Douglas, this is Christopher.”
