Chapter 326
Tyson's logic failed to compute for Willow. How in the world would things be any different if she went instead?
She strongly felt that Tyson was overestimating her worth. However, it wasn't her place to decline. She took the documents from him, headed over to Jasper's office, and knocked on his door.
He called for her to enter, so she did.
Jasper sat in his black revolving chair, clad in a black, tailor-made suit. CEO and chair melded together into one intimidating presence, which was presently glaring the hell out of some contract agreements.
Willow swallowed hard, then tiptoed up to his desk to place the documents there. "Sir, Mr. Ward instructed me to deliver these documents to you—”
The words caught in her throat when Jasper looked up at her, and then she found herself staring into an abyss of eternal darkness, where hope was strangled to death in silence.
Her heart skipped a beat. A single look from him was enough to make her break out in a cold sweat.
Jasper pulled the documents over to have a quick look-through. Then he looked up at her once more, with cold eyes. "These documents are about sponsoring some Food Appreciation Contest. Should I sign, or not? Tell me what you think." Though he spoke calmly, in an even tone, she heard an unspoken threat lurking behind every word.
Willow couldn't take this sort of pressure... it was too much for her! Tyson had handed her the sponsorship proposal for the big Food Appreciation Contest?! The one her daughter Hailey was taking part in?!
Why did Jasper want her opinion on this matter? She was a low-ranking secretary! This sort of decision wasn't hers to make!
Willow bowed her head deferentially. "Mr. Hughes, as CEO, making this sort of decision is your exclusive privilege. As for me, I'm just a lowly paper-pusher..."
The nail that sticks out gets the hammer. A personal motto of hers.
There could be no doubt that she had no place speaking on this matter.
In response, Jasper barked fiercely, "I want you to choose! Shall I sign it, or not?! It's a simple question!"
A sudden chill seemed to sweep through the room, causing Willow to shiver violently on the spot. Jasper was forcing her hand. There was no refusing him. His intense, seething gaze was firmly locked onto her.
His eyes were like yawning black holes, threatening to devour her whole at the slightest misstep.
Willow felt her terror growing with each passing moment. Her mind was blank. Her heart was pounding.
Jasper glared at her, and she was forced to meet that fearsome gaze, because if she so much as glanced away before he allowed her to, she felt sure those eyes would instantly eviscerate her to shreds.noveldrama
... Yet, every moment she stared into those eyes, she could feel her sanity draining away, and her lungs didn't seem to be drawing in enough oxygen...
Willow trembled with anxiety beneath Jasper's intimidating glare. She had to answer: "...Sign it?" Rather than an answer though, it came out more as a question.
The venue for the contest was easily within reach for him to drop by and inspect the proceedings at any time. Perhaps that was an indication of his interest in that event...? She overclocked all her sensors, O

desperately scanning for any hint of
Jasper's true intentions.
However, as those two words left her mouth, the temperature in the room instantly
fell by several degrees. Jasper's eyes were cold and sharp, like a blade of ice, being held against her throat.
Willow could feel her skin crawling. Had she answered wrongly?
As she was trying to decide on whether or not she should change her answer, Jasper flipped aside several pages, lifted up his fountain pen, and signed his name at the bottom with a deft, lively flourish.
When she saw that he'd actually signed the agreement, rather than feeling reassured, her anxiety ballooned even further instead. She was in very real danger of suffering a heart attack.
"I'm sure you have a lot to do, sir!" she stammered nervously. "Please excuse me!"
She hurried out of Jasper's office, and back to her own.
Her heart was racing out of control. Jasper was a man with a fearsome aura indeed!
What do you think?
