My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0498

Chapter 0498

Candice pursed her lips and left with Ellis in her arms.

Alex and the doctor followed them out.

Seeing Candice's serious expression, the doctor thought she was worried about the child and comforted her. "The results will come out soon. The main concern with children's allergies is their lack of awareness and precaution. As long as parents supervise properly, there usually won't be any major problems."

Candice forced a smile upon hearing this. "Thank you, doctor."

Edward glanced at Ellis, then looked at Alex, jokingly saying, "With multiple drug allergies, you're more familiar with this than me. You can share your experience with your friend."

Alex and Edward were high school classmates. When he suddenly came to make an appointment for a check-up, Edward was surprised, wondering if Alex had gotten married.

Moreover, as a pediatrician, he was sensitive, and at first glance at Ellis, he felt the child bore some resemblance to Alex in facial features. So, he jokingly asked if Ellis was Alex's daughter.

But given the current situation, it's probably hard to say.

Edward had been a pediatrician for so many years, he had seen a lot of things. He smiled and handed Candice a business card. "I'm here in Dorrington City. You can always come to me for any child-related issues in the future."

After saying that, he left.

Candice subconsciously avoided Alex's gaze and turned with Ellis. "The check-up is done. I have something else to do."

"I heard Joseph Zanford tried to contact you earlier," Alex suddenly spoke up.

Joseph was William's older brother.

"Joseph will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. If you encounter him, you'd better tell me immediately."

Candice stopped in her tracks. "I probably won't encounter him." After all, she was about to leave Dorrington City.

It was funny how the most familiar place had become a place she couldn't stay in for long.

Just as she was about to leave, she heard a sarcastic voice behind her, "If the nurse hadn't told me you were here, I wouldn't have believed it. Aren't you the one who hates kids the most? What are you doing in the pediatric department?"

Candice glanced over to see Sieg.

Sieg always wore a mocking expression on his face. He looked at Alex, "Oscar brought your father here, oh, and Edward is waiting upstairs for your family meeting."

Alex's eyes narrowed slightly, and his originally gentle demeanor suddenly turned cold. He glanced deeply at Candice and spoke without much emotion, "Be safe on your way back."

Candice was just stunned. Alex had already walked away. She took Ellis and was about to leave when Sieg's voice came from behind, "This matter is somewhat related to you. Are you just leaving like this? As I suspected, you're quite ruthless."

After saying this, he sneered, looking meaningfully at Candice.

Yana frowned. "Please get it straight. It was William who attacked Alex, not Candice. She is also a victim. Stop using the rhetoric that victims are guilty. Candice's willingness to visit him shows her conscience and morality, not because she owes Alex."

Yana was very protective of Candice. After saying this, she was about to pull Candice away. As they passed by Sieg, he stopped Candice.

Though his demeanor remained casual, there was a hint of seriousness in his eyes. "Do you know what cooperation with the Zanford family means for Aether Corporation? By directly offending the Zanford family's partner, Alex has essentially offended the Zanford family." Sieg continued, "You should be clearer than me. He could have used this incident to gain greater benefits for Aether Corporation."

When Alex returned to the hospital room, he saw a group of people inside, all of them looking grim.

Except for Oscar.

Others often said Alex resembled Helen, but Oscar looked exactly like Daniel, even exuding the same hypocrisy.

He spoke warmly, "Mr. Elysian, you're not feeling well, why did you still go outside? The chairman is concerned about you. He came in the morning and has been waiting until now."

Alex didn't even look at him, his voice indifferent, "Sawyer should have told you, I don't want anyone here."

"You bastard!" Seeing his indifferent expression, Daniel, who had been stern-faced all along, rebuked, "Alex, do you no longer care about me?"

Alex looked at him calmly, "You're overthinking it."

Daniel's chest heaved continuously, obviously not believing it. Since the Sui family started supporting him, Alex had become more and more rebellious. But considering the true purpose of today's visit, he forcibly suppressed his anger. "Is your injury healed?"

Alex looked at him.

Daniel said, "William is young and impulsive, indeed he was wrong, but you've already taught him a lesson."

The meaning was obvious. He wanted Alex to release William.

Oscar stood beside Daniel, resembling a younger version of him. The two standing together clearly looked like father and son.

He also advised Alex, "The Zanford family still has cooperation with us after all. Young people are hot-tempered, small conflicts are common."

With Oscar's earnest advice, one might think he and Alex were very close.

Alex sneered. "Small conflicts are common? Then why don't you, Mr. Sanburg, go find William and have a small conflict with him?"

When Candice followed Sieg upstairs, the door to the ward was ajar, and she happened to hear Alex's words.

The atmosphere in the ward was not good; both sides seemed quite tense, their expressions rather ugly.

She noticed Oscar at first sight because he looked so much like Daniel. It was easy to tell he was Daniel's son.

Hearing footsteps, Alex glanced over, his brows furrowing, and his tone cold. "What are you doing here?"

Candice was about to speak when she suddenly heard Daniel's furious voice, "Alex! Don't forget you're one of the Elysian family!"

Alex's tone turned cold. "Feel free to change Oscar's surname if you want."

"You!" Daniel’s fury was extreme. Without looking, he grabbed something nearby and hurled it toward Alex. "You're a disgrace!"

His movements were fast. By the time everyone reacted, the cup of hot tea had already smashed across Alex’s back. He grunted, his face momentarily pale.

Unfortunately, because of turning to glance at Candice, Alex’s back was turned to the room, and the cup of tea happened to hit his wound.

Doctors and nurses rushed over immediately. Alex's wound was still healing, and being hit like this caused it to split open slightly, blood staining the gauze red. Moreover, because it was soaked in tea, there was concern about infection.

Daniel and Oscar didn't stay long; they left with Edward, their faces dark. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Candice looked at the ward, unsure what to think.

Beside her, Sieg chuckled lightly, looking down. "You wait here. I'm leaving."

Without waiting for Candice's response, he walked away.

He had a clear view of the situation just now. When Daniel threw the teacup, Alex actually dodged to the side, but for some reason, he had back and deliberately used his wound to intercept the teacup.
