Chapter 72
Clara's expression froze when she saw the doubtful look in Tiffany's eyes. But then, she quickly put on a pitiful expression. "Tiffany, how could I possibly lie to you? Why did you suddenly ask me that question?"
Realizing that Clara's eyes were turning red, Tiffany had no choice but to say, "I was just asking. Don't take
it to heart."
When Tiffany saw that Clara was about to cry, she held Clara's hands and said affectionately, "We three
are best friends. You mustn't lie to us."
"Of course. I won't lie to you two."
Clara nodded obediently.
"Come on, let's go to class."
Tiffany pulled Clara along as she headed upstairs. Clara stared at Tiffany, who was walking in front of her. She felt a little more wary now.
Either way, as long as she hadn't graduated, she mustn't let Tiffany and Jenny know that she was lying. If not, her college life would be ruined.
Upstairs, a crowd had gathered at the entrance to Clara's classroom. Jenny was looking around as well, but because she was quite small, she couldn't even squeeze her way through the crowd. "What's going on?"
Tiffany asked, stepping forward.
Jenny said in a gossipy tone, "I heard that the Director of the Ministry of Education is here. Everyone's just looking on."
"The director? Why did the director come to our class?"
Tiffany was puzzled.
But Clara immediately tensed up.
"I heard that they've sent someone here to investigate the bulletin board incident yesterday!"
There was an excited tone in Jenny's voice.
Clara's face instantly turned pale.

Jenny continued, "The higher-ups must have noticed that that woman has terrible character, and she doesn't deserve to study at our school. So, they're here to kick her out of school!" Tiffany frowned. "But if that's the case, shouldn't the director go to that woman's class? Why did he come
to our class instead?"
When Jenny heard that, she noticed something off as well. "You're right. Why did they come to our class? He should have gone to the classroom downstairs instead." After a moment of silence, their gazes coincidentally fell upon Clara.
Fearing that the two might suspect something, Clara hastily said, "Could it be that... we offended Sheldon, so he sent someone to cause trouble for us?"
That wasn't impossible.
Jenny and Tiffany had worried looks in their eyes.
What should they do? They failed to get that woman expelled, and they had gotten themselves into trouble instead!
Tiffany asked, "Is Sheldon so powerful that he could get the director here to twist the truth?"
Clara said, "I heard that Sheldon submitted a blank paper during the exam, but the Hackett family still made use of their connections and got him in without any trouble. Sheldon might be causing trouble for us by making use of the director."
Jenny was furious when she heard that. "How despicable! What do we do now?"
Clara immediately said, "Let's leave before anyone notices us. It's better to skip school than to get intoRêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
trouble here."
"Sure!"
Jenny was the first to agree.
But Tiffany said, "Are you sure that's a good idea? We still haven't figured out what's going on. Won't we
seem useless if we leave just like that? We didn't do anything wrong, so what is there to be afraid of? With
so many people around, they can't possibly distort the truth, can they?"
Jenny wavered a little when she heard Tiffany's words.
But Clara was terrified. If she stayed here, it would all be over if the director was truly here to investigate the person behind the bulletin board incident.
"We can't afford to mess with rich and powerful people. They have many tricks up their sleeves, and might just be able to distort the truth."
Seeing that the two didn't intend to leave, Clara felt a little frustrated.
What was wrong with them?
"If you guys aren't leaving, I am!"
