Chapter 71 House Servant
Chapter 71 House Servant
As the Harris family left the mansion, Mr. Harris’ face crumbled instantly.
“What’s his deal? Some snot-nosed brat barely twenty years old. He thinks he can still have it made
without the Grant family at his back?”
He’d already treated the younger man with such respect, but Matthew didn’t give him a shred of it back.
“Dear…” Mrs. Harris’ expression didn’t look too good either.
They’d been thoroughly humiliated today.
Elizabeth still had it the worst. After she saw how Matthew and Blanca showed off their affection for
each other, she’d been down in the dumps, like her soul had been sucked out, all the way after the
meal.
“Still thinking about that man, Elizabeth? Forget him, he’s married.” When she saw the sad face of her
daughter, Mrs. Harris sighed comfortingly. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“Mom!?” Elizabeth yelped unwillingly. Then, as if she had thought of something, she took Mrs. Harris’
hand and pleaded, “Didn’t you say you were going to prepare something good for me at the reception
banquet? Could you also do me a favor…”
So long as what’s done was done, there was nothing that Matthew could do to deny that, right?
“Mom, I think I forgot my phone; I’ll go back to get it!” Elizabeth suddenly stopped in her tracks, spun
widdershins and ran towards the mansion.
In the living room, Blanca suddenly sneezed, and she hurriedly took a tissue.
Was someone thinking about her or cursing her?
“You’re the mistress of the house now. Aren’t you supposed to clean up?” After the meal, the family sat
in the living room to chat. Louise looked at Blanca and couldn’t help but mock.
“…pack up?” Blanca rubbed her nose and looked at Louise in a loss. “The family has servants, right?”
“But you’re Matthew’s wife…”
“Are wives married just to be servants?” Blanca dragged out a long “huh” and shimmied over. “So why
pay the servants? Got too much money on your hands? Send me the servants’ paychecks and I’ll do
it.”
Blanca harrumphed proudly, and the old man burst into laughter.
Still, though, considering it now – the servants made ten to twenty thousand a month!
She only made four to five going out working!
It was getting tempting.
“Hahahaha… you really are a wealth hound, kid.” The old man chuckled exasperatedly and pointed at
Blanca. Blanca giggled in return. Mr. Johnson came with fruit for dessert. Blanca picked a few bits that
would fit the elderly more, and handed them to Alan. “…Grandpa, the watermelon’s cold and too sweet
for you. I’ll pour you some tea later.”
Seeing the old man’s pampering smile, Blanca only felt close to him.
She couldn’t help but treat him better for it.
If Grandma had still been alive, she’d probably be looking at her with the same kind of love…
Blanca took a quiet bite of watermelon. It was sweet and cold. Thinking of her grandmother, her eyes
inevitably reddened.
“Eh? What’s with you, kid? Why are you crying all of a sudden?”
“I-I’m not,” Blanca smiled sweetly. “I’m not crying. I just think I’m really blessed to be by your side,
Grandpa.”
“Silly girl, you’re my granddaughter-in-law now. If Matthew bullies you from now on, just come and tell
me, and I’ll show him what for!”
“Okay, thanks Grandpa~” Seemingly infected by the old man’s grin, Blanca found the long-lost feeling
of home as she took Alan’s arm and pouted playfully, “Grandpa~ I framed the painting you gave me last
time and Mrs. Brown loved it too. Can I have another one?”
“Hah. Mrs. Brown really said that?”
“Sure she did.” Blanca’s eyes went wide. Mrs. Brown was someone that the old man had got for
Matthew from the start. Beaming, Blanca continued, “I know you like painting at night, Grandpa.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t even be leaving, and I’d be staying here with you!” Giggling, Blanca’s little face
turned into a blooming flower. With the sweet shape of her mouth, it was a pleasing sight.
The old man didn’t have any hobbies outside of that.
“That won’t do!!”
Suddenly, a crisp, authoritative voice came from the doorway.
