Please Come Back, Honey!

Chapter 177

Chapter 177

Emma didn't expect to have so many things in common with Nina. As Wilson's wife, Nina read a lot, and Emma also loved reading since she was young. Even though she hadn't read too extensively, she had read all the famous books both locally and abroad at the very least.

The two started chatting about the books they loved, then went on to discuss other topics. Wilson, who was preparing lunch in the kitchen, also came out to sit for a while, perhaps intrigued by their happy conversation.

However, Wilson didn't participate in their exchange. Instead, he sat quietly at the side and listened in.

Wilson's gaze toward Emma was filled with love, and so was Nina's.

Emma could feel that they earnestly treated her like their own daughter.

Even though she still couldn't quite come to terms with this reality, it didn't affect her love for the couple.

Kingsford was breathtaking during the fall. In the comfortable and quiet courtyard, Emma experienced happiness she had never felt before while being surrounded by such warmth and love.

She had never felt familial warmth before in her youth. Even though her mother—rather, her foster mother—treated her well, the same couldn't be said for Steven and Simon.

With a husband and son like that, her foster mother didn't lead a happy life, for every day was filled with arguments and fights.

However, right here and now, as Emma sat with people who used to be strangers, she could actually feel the warmth of a family. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

After lunch, Wilson helped Nina into the bedroom for a nap, while Emma went to Wilson's study to take a look at his books.

Upstairs, Wilson stayed with Nina in the bedroom.

The woman couldn't stop crying as she hugged Wilson, and the man's eyes reddened too as he held Nina silently.

After a while, Nina said to Wilson while sobbing, "The greatest regret in my life is being unable to bear any children for you, but now that she has come to you, I can leave in peace."

Wilson's heart ached for her as he replied, "Don't say such things. You're in perfect health."

Nina leaned in his arms and sighed. "She's so identical; you don't even have to bother with any DNA tests. In fact, I knew right away that she's the child you had with that girl."

Wilson embraced her tightly and said, "I did not expect this twist of fate, nor did I expect that she had left me a daughter all those years ago."

When he remembered the girl he loved so deeply in his youth, there was a wonderful feeling in Wilson's heart.

He was studying in Jonestown back then, and he encountered the first girl he had ever loved in his life. The two were deeply in love and promised each other that they would get married as soon as they graduated.

However, in a turn of events, his father got into an accident as a result of marginalization from his rivals, so Wilson was summoned back to Kingsford. After that, his family went under attack, so he couldn't contact the girl, nor did he dare to.

He wasn't sure at the time if his family could safely make it through, so he dared not contact the girl he loved. If he got her involved in all of this, he would be causing her harm.

A few years later, when his father was safe, Wilson returned to Jonestown in search of the love of his life, but he couldn't find her anymore. He had lost her in the sea of people.

That was why his new book was titled 'In Search of You'. It was the deepest regret of his life.

However, he never thought that he would meet Emma because of this book. He was dumbfounded when he first saw her, for Emma looked exactly like that girl.

After Emma left Trevor, Wilson immediately sent people to investigate her background. When he discovered that she wasn't Steven's biological daughter, he was almost certain that she was his child instead.

However, he also heard that her biological mother passed away not long after giving birth to her, and he was saddened by the news for a while.

The girl he was in search of for half of his life had passed away early on. He felt like his heart was

emptied.

Hence, it was why he wanted Emma to be his goddaughter. It wasn't simply because he liked Emma's personality; it was also because she might really be his daughter.

Now, the truth was only a DNA test away.

However, Wilson had no intention of telling Emma the truth. He feared that she wouldn't be able to accept it right away, so he decided to spend time with Emma as her godfather first.

This was perhaps the fate that bound them.

He wrote this book for the love of his life, who was also Emma's mother. From that, the book turned into a bridge between him and Emma.

Nina couldn't calm herself down. "I'm so glad, I really am."

Wilson had told Nina the truth from the beginning, letting her know that he used to have an intimate lover before.

However, Wilson also promised Nina that he would treat her well since they had gotten married. Evidently, the man kept his word after they were married. Despite her inability to bear children due to her physical condition, Wilson never once gave up on her.

After all, her infertility was looked down upon in a family as large as the Youngs. Wilson's parents even tried to convince them to file a divorce multiple times so that Wilson could marry someone else.

However, Wilson declined every time. There were even some years when he stopped contacting the other members of his family because of this.

In those years, they had all grown old and matured, and his parents stopped being so stubborn. Thus, their relationship was mended and returned to harmony.

As such, when Nina found out that Emma might be Wilson's daughter, it was obvious how emotional and glad she was.

Wilson was no longer without an heir. Even though Nina didn't give birth to this daughter, she was still happy for him. She was especially glad to know that when she was gone, Wilson would still have a kind daughter to take care of him.

Nina promised Wilson, "I'll treat her well and love her like my own child. She has made our lives perfect."

"Yes." Wilson knew that Nina would definitely be good to Emma, for his wife was equally wonderful.

Perhaps he wasn't meant to be with that girl, but fortunately, he managed to find their daughter. In the days to come, he would pour all of his efforts and love to take good care of Emma.

The latter had been reading for a while in Wilson's study when she received a video from Susanna.

In the video, Trevor had accepted an interview at Jonestown Airport. Emma didn't expect Trevor to return to Jonestown so quickly. She was still thinking about what to do if she ran into him at the hotel when she got back.

In the video, a crowd of journalists surrounded Trevor as someone asked, "Mr. Bateson, who was that girl in the video?"

Trevor was wearing huge sunglasses, his expression dark as he ignored them.

Hearing that, he sneered at the journalist and said, "What sort of question are you asking? I took the initiative to kiss her, so who else can she be? Obviously, she's the love of my life."

The journalist had no words to say in return, but it felt as if Trevor was showing off his relationship at the same time. After all, it wasn't easy to hear such an earnest confession from Trevor, who was reserved and usually kept a low profile.

After all, her infertility was looked down upon in a family as large as the Youngs. Wilson's parents even tried to convince them to file a divorce multiple times so that Wilson could marry someone else.
