Please Give Me Another Chance Mrs Hamilton

Chapter 357

Brad had been wandering through the bustling mall with Jean, but from the moment they entered, she noticed his deep frown.

He seemed to despise the aimless wandering, but he was forced to suppress his irritation to keep her company.

His anger and gentleness coexisted in a strangely uncomfortable way.

Jean noticed his discomfort. With a delicate and pitiful look, she asked, "Brad, do you not want to be here with me? If you don't want to stay, it's okay. You can leave me here by myself."

Brad had been reluctant to spend time with her here, viewing it as a waste. However, upon hearing her words, his anger dissipated instantly.

He loathed such pointless wandering and believed it was a poor use of time that could be spent handling important tasks.

This was why she couldn't understand Jean's actions. He thought that she was deliberately wasting his time.

But when Jean spoke so vulnerably, his anger dissipated.

He looked at her with a softness that was barely perceptible, as if saying, "I'll be here for you when you need me."

He felt he owed her too much in these six years.

Every time Jean gazed at him with that sad yet radiant look, the guilt he felt surged uncontrollably.

"How can I leave you alone? I just think this aimless wandering is a waste of time."

When Brad looked at Jean again, his gaze carried a hint of scrutiny. She had been wandering around for over an hour, buying nothing and showing no real interest in selecting items.

His suspicion grew about her real intentions.

In fact, Jean wasn't just shopping. She had her own motives.

Seeing his serious and scrutinizing look made her feel unnervingly guilty. She feared he might have seen through her little ruse, which could explain his intense demeanor.

Feeling guilty, she chattered, "Don't think like that, Brad. Women just enjoy window shopping. It's not necessary to buy anything."

Though her explanation made some sense, it did little to ease Brad's scrutiny.

Noticing his skeptical gaze, she quickly changed the subject. "Why don't you smile for me? You look so scary when you don't smile, like everyone owes you millions of dollars."

Brad managed a brief, half-hearted smile, but it was so lackluster it hardly seemed like a smile at all.noveldrama

Jean was dissatisfied with this response. She shook his arm and said

coquettishly, "Brad, your smile is so fake. It's no better than not smiling at all.

"I'm still recovering, and the doctor said I need to stay cheerful. Your fake smile is making it impossible for me to feel good. If my condition worsens, you'll be the one who suffers."

Brad's indifference worried her. She feared he would discover her true intentions,

so she struggled to act normally.

When Brad glanced at his watch, he realized it was already 6:30 pm. Sean's birthday party had started at 6:00 pm, and he, as the father, was late.

Brad, who was very conscious of time, realized he was running late. He gently pushed Jean's hand away, and his expression grew more

serious. "I can't keep you comple

anymore, Jeanie. I have an

important meeting I need to attend.

I'm running late."

As he spoke, he turned and strode toward the mall entrance.
