Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 265

Charles did not take a bit just yet. He thought of waiting for Naomi to eat before eating himself, but he cared too much. More accurately speaking, he wanted to be with her so badly, so even if it was just a tale, he was still willing to believe it. At that moment, Charles looked at Naomi intently and waited for her to take the first bite. He was nervous.

To his surprise, just when Naomi was to take a bite, her phone rang. His heart inexplicably sank.

Naomi placed her cutlery down, including the bite that she was just about to take. She grabbed her bag and took her phone out.

Maya.

Naomi was surprised to see the name on her screen. Ever since the call she had with Maya in Horizon City, she no longer stayed in touch with her. She always thought of making some pastries for Maya to send to her, but things just happened one after the other. She was either injured or had to be away for work. She did not have the time to do it at all.

When she saw Maya's name appear on her phone, she felt guilty.

"Carry on, Charles. I'll have to take this call."

She felt it was not right to take the call right in front of Charles, just like how she did not tell Charles that she had come here before, even eating 'Till Death Do Us Part with Scott'. She found it unnecessary.

She did not need to tell every single detail of her life to everyone, especially when Olivia was sitting right behind her. She understood that sometimes, it was best with lesser troubles. Naomi left with her phone to a secluded corner.

Charles sat still and looked at the flower on Naomi's plate. His heart went cold. It was like a foreshadowing that made him worried.

Naomi remembered she saw a resting lounge the last time she was there, specifically for customers to wait or relax.

She left the booth and headed straight ahead. She took a turn at the corner to see a large resting lounge. It had railings around while inside was set up tidily with couches and coffee tables. Naomi answered the call and placed her phone to her ear. At the same time, she walked over. "Hello, Maya."

The moment she answered the call, she heard Maya crying. Naomi stopped.

Naomi stopped walking. Her brow furrowed as she gently asked, "Maya, what's wrong?"

"Aunt Naomi, I really miss you!" sobbed Maya.

Naomi's heart broke. She was a very soft-hearted person, especially when it came to children. She could not bear to hear children cry. She felt extremely sorry for them when they cried.

"I miss you too, Maya. Where are you right now? Why are you Did you

"I... I'm at home. I-I accidentally fell..." Maya sobbed.

Naomi was nervous. "Where did you hit? Is anyone at home? Is your mom with you?"

"I hurt my leg. It hurts. Mommy's not

is with me. Aunt Naomi, it hurts!"

answered all of Naomi's questions.

Despite her worries, Naomi calmly listened to Maya before saying, "Can you put Aunt Betty on the phone?"

Jasper had house staff working for him. One of them was in charge of caring for Maya and taking her to school.

Naomi had met Aunt Betty before. She was a friendly, affectionate old woman. Maya liked her a lot.

"Okay..." Maya sobbed and reached her hand out, which had the smartwatch on, to Aunt Betty, who had Maya in her arms. "Hello, Ms. Goodwin," greeted Aunt Betty.

Naomi was a little relieved when she heard Aunt Betty's voice.

Children often got themselves hurt, and she knew that. With Aunt Betty around, Maya should be in safe hands.

However, Naomi still asked, "Aunt Betty, Maya said that she hurt her leg. Is it serious?"

"It's not serious. She was running too quickly and slipped on a rug. She bruised her knee on the floor."
