Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 839

A month flew by in what felt like no time at all. The day had finally come for Cameron and Greta to make their divorce official.

Greta and her mom, Margaret, were already at the courthouse, waiting for Cameron to show up. Margaret tried one last time to change Greta's mind, "Greta, please think about this again. Your health isn't the best, and I won't always be around to help. Who's going to look after you once the divorce is final?"

Greta's eyes revealed a mix of reluctance and sorrow, but her mind was clear. "Do you honestly believe he's the same Cameron who used to shower me with love? He's over it. Can't you see? He's not interested in taking care of your daughter anymore."

Margaret countered, "Most couples face rough patches like this. They bicker when they're young, but eventually, they grow old together as each other's only companion."

Greta cut her off, exasperated, "Enough, Mom. I don't need another lecture."

Margaret went quiet, looking a bit sheepish. Tears filled Greta's eyes as she continued, "He's the one who's pushing for this divorce. Do you really think this is what I want?"

Margaret could only let out a heavy sigh.

Soon enough, Cameron arrived. He was a shadow of his former self, having lost almost everything. His clothes were cheap, his hair disheveled, and his face showed the wear and tear of stress and fatigue. He'd arrived by cab.

Seeing him like this, Greta felt a wave of relief. At least she was getting out now. But deep down, something shattered.

Was it her dreams of a fairytale romance?

"Hey, Cameron, you're here," Margaret said, still managing a bit of warmth towards her son-in-law.

But Greta was already annoyed. "Why are you so late? No wonder your business went under; with time management like that, it was bound to happen."

She knew exactly how to push his buttons.

Cameron, seething, grabbed her by the neck, his eyes wild with rage. "If it hadn't been for your illness

throwing me off, I wouldn't have net

missed that bid! I put everything I had into Empire Industries, and you ruined it. You bring nothing but bad luck-what right do you have to look down on me?"

Greta's eyes widened, her face turning purple from lack of air. She pounded on his arms, "Cameron, murdering me in broad daylight will get you locked up."

Cameron spat back, "I've got nothing left to lose. You think I care about prison now?"

He threw her aside, causing Greta to stumble and hit the ground. Pointing at her like she was nothing, Cameron barked, "Greta, keep pushing me, and maybe I won't even divorce you. You ruined my life, so maybe I'll just stay shackled to you forever and take it out on you

whenever I feel like it."

Greta was terrified, her face drained of color. "It wasn't me who wrecked your life;

it was Nathalie. I'm not the bad luck charm here."

Margaret abandoned any hope of

them staying together. She hurriedly

grabbed Cameron's arm, "Cameron, You knownoveldrama

don Dstoop to her level. You

she doesn't have long."

Cameron pulled himself together a bit, shooting a venomous look at Greta before striding inside with his head held high.

Greta watched him go, the man who had once been so gentle and noble, now turned into someone she barely recognized. Life sure had a way of throwing curveballs.

Her determination to go through with the divorce solidified.

When their number was called, Greta couldn't resist glancing at Cameron. But he

didn't look back, sitting down in front of the clerk with a steely resolve.

His mind was made up, and so was hers.

Tears welled up in Greta's eyes.
