Chapter 867
Nathalie furrowed her brows, feeling an odd sense of "unreality" in her dad's
words. Her dad was definitely one to hold onto grudges, and seeing him suddenly turn into this forgiving person was just baffling.
"Dad, whether you forgive them or not is up to you. As long as you're happy," Nathalie said.noveldrama
Lincoln let out a quiet sigh of relief, wiping the cold sweat from his brow without making a fuss.
"Vivian, why don't you go and see if Ashley wants to hang out?" Lincoln suggested gently.
Nathalie glanced out the window, noticing Morris and Ashley chatting animatedly under the jacaranda tree.
"I think I'll pass," she replied.
"Vivian, do you have feelings for Nathan?"
Nathalie started, her face turning a shade of red as panic set in. "Dad, I..."
Lincoln spoke earnestly, "Vivian, Nathan and Ashley have been engaged for ages. You know what they say it's better to break ten temples than one marriage. You shouldn't interfere with their relationship. Love is meant for two; three's a crowd."
Nathalie's eyes welled up with tears, and she murmured, "Dad, I get it."
"I won't let myself be the other woman."
Lincoln wrapped his arms around Nathalie. "If you're feeling down, maybe go out and clear your head a bit."
Nathalie nodded. "Alright."
Lincoln felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He knew it wouldn't be easy for Nathalie to move on from Nathan, but he'd rather she endure a bit of pain now than have a toxic presence linger in her life.
Lunch was quite the feast. The long table was covered with dishes.
Lincoln and Dean sat across from each other, with Nathalie beside Lincoln. Ashley came in excitedly, pushing Morris's wheelchair, and sat him next to Dean, taking her seat closely beside him.
Morris caught a glimpse of Nathalie across the table, noting her tired appearance. He couldn't help but ask, "Nathalie, did you have trouble sleeping last night?"
In a hoarse voice, Nathalie replied, "I slept fine."
Lincoln quickly jumped in, "Nathan, remember, Ashley is the one you should be focusing on. You wouldn't want your fiancée Ashley to get the wrong idea by fussing over my Vivian."
Ashley gave a shy smile.
Morris was at a loss for words.
Lincoln continued, "Speaking of which, Nathan, you've been with my niece for so long, and your bond is so strong. The wedding must be just around the corner, right?"
Morris kept his eyes on Nathalie's face.
Nathalie's expression was blank, her eyes vacant.
Dean joined in with a smile, "Gavin and I have been talking, and to avoid any unforeseen complications, the sooner the wedding, the better."
Lincoln smiled knowingly, "That's fantastic news. Vivian, looks like you'll need to dig deep for your sister's big day."
Nathalie asked Morris flatly, "What do you want as a gift? A car, a house, or cash?"
Lincoln and Dean were taken aback.
Ashley protested, "Cousin, Uncle meant for you to prepare something for me, not the other way around!"
Nathalie kept her gaze on Morris.
"I'm only getting a wedding gift for
my Nathan because I'm only
Nathalie for him." With that, she
grabbed Lincoln's wine and downed it all at once.
"Marriage is great; this way, you won't be a lone wolf anymore."
Ashley was furious, throwing her chopsticks down. "What kind of drunken nonsense is this?"
What do you think?
