Revenge is Best Served… After Reborn

Chapter 1920

Hearing what the bodyguard said, Sophie was suddenly at a loss for words. She

gave him a swift kick in the backside, exclaiming, "So you just nabbed a couple of high school kids without even asking questions? What if you got the wrong people?"

The bodyguard, rubbing his sore behind, replied, "Ma'am, these two rascals were brawling like pros. I thought they seemed suspicious, so I brought them in for a little chat."

"Chatting with them here? You think this is some foreign land? You've been running wild overseas with Colby too long. You want to interrogate anyone who crosses your path."

Adler came down from the executive office upstairs, looking like he'd been

burning the midnight oil for days. His face was etched with exhaustion, those dark circles under his eyes telling the tale.

The moment Alec laid eyes on Adler, he blurted out, "Dad?"

"Dad?" Adler was caught off guard.

Jenna, right on his heels, grabbed Adler by the ear, her voice dripping with skepticism, "Dad?"

"Jenna! Let me explain, I don't even know this person!" Adler pointed wildly at Alec, saying, "You! You must be a spy sent by The Silent Shadows! Why are you talking such nonsense? You don't look like my son at all!"

Sophie glanced between Alec and Adler. Whether it was their looks or their height, there was a striking resemblance.

For a moment, the entire floor was dead silent. Everyone was staring at Adler like he'd grown a second head. Even Adler himself started to second-guess.

They did look... quite similar.

Just then, a slightly panicked voice from a bodyguard outside S Corporation shattered the silence, "Ma'am! There's trouble at the west pier! You need to come and see!"

Hearing there was trouble at the pier, Alec and I exchanged glances. The pier was Costello family turf, and I'd never heard of any trouble there ever since I was a kid. noveldrama

Mom seemed too busy to deal with us. She rallied the crew and headed straight for the pier.

Alec and I were left standing on the empty floor, suddenly with nothing to do.

"The pier... should we go check it out?" I asked Alec, already knowing the answer deep down.

In this strange dreamscape, tailing our parents seemed like the smart move.

We quickly tailed them, cheekily slipping into the van with the bodyguards.

When we squeezed in, the Costello family bodyguards looked

dumbfounded. I quickly

for

silence. Since the van was already rolling, they couldn't exactly toss us out. sŵnovel

But when we arrived at the west pier, the guy who dragged us back earlier

grabbed us by the scruff and tossed us out of the van.

"You two better behave. It's dangerous here; high schoolers should head home! Don't try playing heroes."

With that, he and the other bodyguards dashed towards the west pier.

Alec and I were never ones to play` by the rules. As soon as they were out of sight, we switched tactics, planning to sneak a peek at what was going down at the pier.

But before we even got close, the strong scent of blood hit us hard.
