Revenge is Best Served… After Reborn

Chapter 1925

Once we got back to the room, Alec immediately picked up on my mood. He gave

my forehead a light tap and asked, "What's up? What did Damita want?"

"My mom told me she believes I'm really her daughter."

Alec stopped short, clearly surprised. "Did you hear that right?"

"Yeah, I did," I said. "She said she believes me. I got it loud and clear."

"How could anyone believe something like that?"

"She said she's been through similar stuff, so she gets it."

I shook my head, still wrapping my mind around it. Until today, I never realized that aside from being my mom, she's genuinely impressive.

Alec and I crashed at the Aldridge Estate all night, but neither of us felt like we'd really slept. Mr. Wesley was always on our case, watching us like a hawk round the clock.

Both Alec and I started to worry that we might be stuck here for good.

"Let's hit that jerk's hideout and finish this!" Adler slammed the table, his frustration palpable.

Alec and I, sitting at the edge, jumped at the sudden outburst.

"Sit down!" Jenna smacked the back of Adler's head. "Are you nuts? You think we

can just charge in there? That's crazy dangerous!"

"What else are we supposed to do? We have to act first!"

"Alright, enough." Sophie, having listened to Adler's fiery rant for ages, was

getting a headache. “Adler's got a point. If we don't do anything, they'll target us anyway. We might as well take the lead."

"Sophie, are you sure about this?" Jenna asked, skeptical. "If you are, I'm with you."

Adler looked shocked. "How come I'm the reckless one when I say it, but Sophie gets your backing? Jenna, you're taking her side!"

"Taking sides? She's my future sister-in-law! You and I aren't even a thing yet, so stop trying to latch onto me."

Jenna waved him off, making it clear where she stood.

I quietly sipped my juice, trying to process it all.

So, Mr. Wesley and Aunt Jiang aren't together? Then why were they in the same room last night? The adult world is so baffling. I just can't piece it together.

"Let's get ready to check out the mountain pass again," Mom suggested.

When she mentioned it, I couldn't help but blurt out, "Can we come too?"

The room went silent.noveldrama

Adler crossed his arms. "Little girl, we haven't decided to trust you yet. Aren't you getting ahead of yourself?"

"Let's bring them along," Sophie said, surprising everyone. Jenna and Adler just stared.

"Sophie, are you serious?" Jenna asked.

"If we don't take them, they'll just sneak after us anyway," Sophie replied.

In just two days, these two little troublemakers had pulled off plenty of stunts. Seeing Sophie's stance, the others gave in.

When it was time to get in the car, Sophie made sure I sat with her. Dad didn't look too thrilled.

Before we got in, I could feel his eyes on me, a silent warning: Pull any tricks, and you're in big trouble. I quickly hid behind Mom.

Mom shot Dad a glance, and his stern look melted away instantly, like he had two different faces!

"Hop in,” Mom said, guiding me into the car.

Alec tried to join us, but Adler and Jenna yanked him away.

"Kid, where do you think you're going? You're with us!"

"I..." Alec didn't even get to finish before he was pulled into their car.

On the ride, I kept my mouth shut with Dad sitting right in front of us.

"Colby, you're scaring the kid,"

Sophie sighed, shaking her head et

She turned to me and said, "Don't worry, he might look tough, but he's really nice."

"Uncle?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Colby, sitting in front, seemed a bit miffed. Did he really look that old?

I whispered, "Mrs. Costello, you're so beautiful. Why did you marry him?"

This question had always puzzled me. Dad was quite the looker back in the day,

but Mom was stunning, and surely she had lots of admirers.

I remembered Mom telling me

stories from her past, which were tough to digest at the time. I even thought my godfather was a bit

realized that even if Mom never got married, she could still live a vibrant, carefree life.

Colby shot back coldly, "What's this? Failed to infiltrate, so now you're trying to stir the pot?"

His eyes in the rearview mirror were icy, as if he meant business. I shrank back immediately.

Sophie chuckled, "Love doesn't always make sense. You'll get it when you meet someone special."

Then she paused and asked, "By the way, are you dating anyone?"

I chuckled awkwardly, a little embarrassed. "I'm pretty young, haven't been in a relationship yet."

"What's your ideal type?"

"Well... not too ugly, ideally as

UT

handsome as my dad was when he was younger, with my godfather's brains, Uncle Odie's wealth, and, most importantly, tougher than Mr. Wesley! One of my godfathers said only someone like that would be good enough for me."

"..." Sophie laughed, though a bit crookedly. "Your other godfather sure sets the

bar high."
