Rewriting My Heart's Fate

I lifted an eyebrow.

"Of course, not!" the guard exclaimed with a sheepish smile as he frantically waved his hand. "There's nothing strange with you meeting Maddie. I'll inform her right away. Hold on."

With that said, the guard left in a hurry.

I glanced around, and my gaze stopped on the guards who were busy chatting among themselves. "Look! Wasn't Evelyn released already? Why is she back? Did she come back because she still feels guilty?" asked one of the guards.

"Nonsense. She's probably here to take revenge on Maddie," another replied.

"Tsk. Evelyn? Taking revenge on Maddie?" the first guard scoffed. "She was beaten up so badly back then. She should just stop with the act."

A third replied, "That's right. She thinks she can do anything she wants just because she has a little money in her pockets. We all know she's going to beg for mercy if Maddie is pissed."

The guards burst into laughter after that. I simply stared at them with a mocking smile.

They were fools... ridiculous fools.

All they knew was that Madison was the top dog in prison. They thought that I was a nobody.

However, what they saw was just the surface of things. None of them knew I was no longer the cowardly woman I was back then.

I would do anything and everything for my child now, but I had to be cautious around an enemy like Madison. I mustn't act rashly.

Soon, the guard I spoke to returned with Madison behind him.

She stared at me through the cold glass separating us both in the visiting room. Her hands were cuffed, and she looked rather pale. Despite that, her deep-set eyes flashed with a ferocious, violent look.

Her brows were drawn tightly together, and her face was stuck in a scowl as if she wanted to shred me into pieces.

I calmly stared back at her. She was just a lowly prisoner, although she did make my life terribly miserable back then.

I could hear the people around me whispering.

"Look! Is that Maddie's opponent? Isn't that woman Evelyn? The one who caused lots of trouble back then?"

"If I'm not mistaken, she's actually a designer. I heard that she was released not too long ago."

"Does she want to go up against Maddie? She must have a death wish!"

"That's right! Maddie's network is huge. Evelyn can't afford to get on Maddie's bad side."

"Evelyn must be so sick of living that she wanted to cause trouble for Maddie."

"Hush! Keep your voices down. Evelyn is rich at the very least. She could make Maddie's life here miserable!"

The people around me carried on gossiping, but I turned a deaf ear to them. All this time, my eyes never left Madison's face.

I went straight to the point. "Madison, there's something I want to discuss with you today."

I had just finished speaking when the unexpected happened. Madison's scowl vanished in an

instant. She paled and even started to break out in a cold sweat and shiver out of fear.

"M-Ms. Wiley, I really didn't know that you'll be released so soon. Please forgive me for what I did to you back then," she pleaded.

Her voice broke when she spoke, and her gaze was full of panic. Her expression right now was simply too repulsive.

A corner of my lips curled into a sneer, and I said, "Really? You have quite the network to be able to find out about that. Since you know who I am, I should just get straight to the point." noveldrama

I stared into her eyes as I spoke, my words loud and unrelenting just like my resolve.

"I want you to help me with something. Settle it for me, and our grudges will be no more. What do you think?" I proposed.

Madison was too stunned to speak. She couldn't believe that I would give her a chance like that.

After a while, she finally snapped out of her daze and nodded profusely at my offer.

"I will do everything I can to complete the task. What are your orders? Consider them done!" she nodded forcefully.

At the moment, she was so much of

a bootlicker that I found her

revolting. Back then, she put me

through so much torment and pain. Now, it merely took me several sentences to make her listento me.

This was fate. No one knew this would happen.

I nodded at her with a cold smile.
