"Emerson found out through a friend that the person who gave Maxine the bracelet is Ford Fisher. Ford is one of Emerson's friends. They've known each other since childhood, growing up in the same community. "We're still not sure whether Ford knew the bracelet was a negative item, but we should be able to confirm that soon," Minerva said.

Skylar replied, "I just met Maxine. She gave me the bracelet and asked me to dispose of it. She also told me Ford gave it to her. The matter should be resolved soon since you've already found that out. Make sure you and Emerson stay careful."

"Don't worry. Maxine is a good woman. I'm glad you figured out she was being influenced by the negative item. She just called me and apologized but then rushed off to her shoot, so I didn't talk to her for long." Minerva's tone sounded much lighter. Skylar also had many positive things to say about Maxine. "She really is a good woman, smart and decisive."

A few days later, Minerva told her they had confirmed that Ford was the one behind the scheme. It turned out Ford had been jealous of Emerson.

In recent years, Emerson's career had been progressing smoothly. He was highly capable and well-respected by his superiors. Meanwhile, Ford had always been compared unfavorably to Emerson by his family, who kept urging him to learn from Emerson in every way.
