Chapter 65
Nicholas raised his voice a few notches, his emotions finally showing some cracks.
“No wonder you’re always clamoring for divorce. First, it was Pete. Now, it’s Silas. I’m really curious. What kind of charm are you using on those men?”
Charm? Compared to Claudia, my skills were nothing. I wanted to ask him which of Claudia’s tactics he fell for.
Some people could live carefree lives just by acting cute. It was evident that not everyone was destined for the same fate.
I lifted my chin and smiled confidently. “This is just the beginning. I also have connections with the commander of the Criminal Investigation Division. Wait until I send you all to court.”
“So my wife’s private life is this exciting,” he spat. His angry gaze seemed to be consuming me.
He probably suspected that I had cheated on him. But couldn’t he handle this? He had gone so far with Claudia that she ended up with a torn rectum, and I hadn’t even mentioned how thrilling he must have found it!
Nicholas‘ Adam’s apple bobbed as if he were suppressing something. The beads that had been resting on his wrist were now clenched tightly in his hand.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Was this woman who dared to challenge him face–to–face really Ariana? Could someone change this much, or had she been pretending all along?
*Do you even remember your identity?”
“What identity? From the moment I told you I wanted a divorce, I no longer Otherwise, how disappointed would I have to be?”
saw you as my husband.
I shrugged, feigning lightness. My words seemed to hit a nerve as I saw his body visibly tremble.
I couldn’t decipher the look in his eyes. Whether he felt guilty or didn’t believe a word I said, it no longer mattered to me. He was still here talking to me about identity. Was he naive, or was I?
“Nicholas, remember this. I mean every word I’ve said.
Leaving him with those words, I turned to leave. Just then, his phone rang. He answered it quickly, putting it on speakerphone. Claudia’s delicate voice was loud and clear.
She said, “Nick, my injuries aren’t serious. I’ve explained to Mom that it wasn’t Ariana who orchestrated this. You must go to the police station and bail her out, Mom and Dad are waiting at home for you both.”
What a considerate woman she was! I could even imagine her little expression as she said this, sincere and pitiful.
It was with such exquisite acting that she had thrived in front of me for years. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have taken four years to notice the anomaly between her and Nicholas
But I didn’t want to play along with their act anymore.
“Stop trying to persuade me. I won’t go back. I’m about to divorce your precious Nick.” I interrupted, and
there was a two–second silence on the other end before a sharp scream erupted.
“Ah! Nick, how can you be with Ariana? Has she already been released?”
“Yes. Are you very disappointed?” I retorted.
Nicholas didn’t expect me to respond. He didn’t answer. He simply frowned and hung up. Then, with a stern tone, he said, “Don’t provoke Claudia with your words!”
My smile felt forced. He was always partial to Claudia.
I tried to leave, but he grabbed my wrist. The cold from his hand spread through my skin, making my wrist ache as if it were about to shatter.
Anger surged within me. I lifted my arm and bit down hard on his wrist.
